Summary:
Megaman Battle Chip Challenge 8/10
A work in progress review.( which means I didn’t finish the game, L I’m a lazy bum.)

Pros: Intense, almost Pokemon like strategy, but with Megaman.
Cons: You don’t control anything while the fighting is going on, makes you feel helpless.
This is: The first Megaman game where I’ve gotten past the first level, J Yayyy.

OK, lets start with the story, First of all, it depends on which of the 6 characters you picked at the start of the game. I of course picked this kid called Lan because he’s on the cover. Lan is a net battler, someone who has a digital comrade and uses it to fight in tournaments called net battles. Lan’s NAVI, the digital comrade thing, is Megaman. ( everybody go JYayyy). Anywho, Lan and Megaman are trying to be official net battlers by beating everyone else in the town. You, the player, navigate a screen telling Lan where to go, like the store or to an open battle. Megaman can’t beat other NAVIs by himself, he needs chips. These chips( don’t worry, I won’t make a gay potato chip joke) gives mega man attacks and defense moves. You can win or buy chips and put them in your deck ( sounds like Yu-Gi-Oh ) and can change your deck and NAVI right before a fight to match with your opponents weaknesses ( sounds like Pokemon). The weaknesses are just like Rock, Paper, Scissors. Water beats fire, fire beats grass, grass beats electricity, and electricity beats water. You use these strategies to beat your enemies, get mo’ money, so you can get more chips, so you can beat more enemies. Congratulations it’s been 275 words. Your reading at a college level. (JYayyyyy).

Now let’s look at the graphics, they really are distinctive, you can tell each chip from the other very easily, and the NAVIs actions look nice, especially when they shoot stuff at each other. I usually don’t pay attention to the music in games ( to play Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure you needed the TV to be on mute) but it was nice here. The music in a Gba game is usually the last thing a developer focuses ( can you blame them?) but it was strangely good in this game. The battle music completely relates to situation giving of a sense of helplessness as your NAVI gets pummeled and all you can do is press A more so it goes faster. When the sound stopped working on by computer I felt so mad I went through the trouble to save my Megaman save file on a floppy, ( and my CT: Special Forces Review, go read it, Now!!) and recovered the computer completely so I could hear the charming little Beeps and Bloops which is Megaman. Yes the sound is that good.

In conclusion, I think that if you have a real GBA and $40, go buy this game and tell all your friends to boycott all those other Megaman games so they will make more Battle chip challenges. Now a word to the wise, this is a thinking man’s game, or women’s thinking man’s game??? Anywho, if you didn’t like any of the Pokemon games ( how could you not) and think the idea of playing a game about cards is stupid, you will like this game but you won’t love it like me. For those of you who downloaded this game, or will download it, input this code in your gameshark code box, 0200747a:0fff, it’s for 999MB deck memory. You will see what it means. Now go, play the game, I have to go finish it.
