from Electronics Boutique Summary: Another GBA port of a Capcom Game: can these guys put one foot wrong of late??? Calling all button-mashers..!
My left thumb is slowly rotting away. This is because I have all but sandblasted it off against by GBA controller every free minute I've had for the last week or so. I was a bit on the tentative side at first, having read a host of mixed reviews about the previous incarnation of Street Fighter on the GBA, but my fears were wiped out and I discouvered a new addiction...
Heck, I traded up my copy of Super Metroid for this game, so I obviously had high expectations when I went into the shop. I wasnt disappointed.
For those of you who never had the joys of Street Fighter on the old Super Nintendo, or before that in the arcades (and yes, there have been various incarnations since then, but thats where it all really began: Street Fighter 2) the game is an unpretentious beat-em-up. There is little enough plot behind it all, save that each character gets a little bit of back story to justify the ending demo they get. Pick a character. Computer picks a character. Fight. Repeat ad nauseum. But by crickey it works!
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper (as it calls itself in the Aussie instrucion book) carries on the tradition gloriously. Dozens of characters, addictive gameplay, mind-numbing special moves and some spectacular supercombos to boot. This game is enough to cure the most jaded victim of Mortal Kombat Advance.
