from best buy Summary: Well, coming off another year disappointed with the available games for xbox, I got a gameboy advance sp for christmas. (Nintendo DS was sold out). Its been about two years since I bought a xbox game since I love to play fighting games that are complicated and fast like Marvel vs capcom 2 and capcom vs snk 2. So why did I get astroboy? It may not be a complicated game to use since the gameboy only has four buttons, but it does have its insane air combos which makes this game a must have game for fighter fans. Remember the top tier fighters in marvel vs capcom 2... Magneto, storm, etc. and the satifaction you get by performing those long chain combos thanks to the air dash. Astro boy can do the same except now you can air dash up to eight times (once you upgrade Astro boy) leading to awesome air combos. These air combos are not easy to perform since you have a split second to link your combo with a air dash and to another painful combo again and again. To top things off, you can finish with your nifty laser beam (hits the enemy(s) multiple times, but unfortunately only records as 1 hit) and cancel into three different types of supers!!! Its just amazing to air combo an enemy for 10-20 hits and finishing off with the laser beam canceled into a super. Super types will be explained in the gameplay section. Anyway, the controls are simple. Punch is simple the B button, jump is the A button, the right shoulder button (I now call R button) is the super beam finish which looks like Ryu shinku hadouken super, the left should button (now called L button) does the butt machine gun super attacking every enemy on the screen (a cool combo creater, will explain later) and pressing A and B buttons at same time to do dash super where astro charges the enemy with his fist out like super man and hit the enemy multiple times (like M. Bison's psycho crusher super, but super style and no electricity). The game plot is cool in that you must play the game twice to finish it. The story line changes a bit so its like your playing astro boy 1.5 the second time through. Also some of the civilians that help Astro boy to upgrade are hidden so you need to break window glass, a garbage can, etc, to find the hidden guys. Thankfully finding the hidden guys aren't hard since once you upgrade your sensors, the sensors will tell you someone is hidden close by you, kinda like spidermans spider sense. Anyway, now to the gameplay Report this review >>
