Summary:
I first heard about this game in the middle of last year, and that it was going to be a holiday release. I am a pinball fanatic, and I was really looking forward to this title.

As it turns out, the PS2 and XBox versions of this game were released in November. I ordered the Gamecube version at the same time, since I figured that the graphics would be enhanced on that machine. I have a PS2 but no XBox.

Well, I got emails about delays, but I stayed the course. Then, yesterday, this beautiful bit of work fell out of my mailbox. Finally, it had arrived.

It was well worth the wait. Plainly stated, if you like pinball, get this game. It is the best pinball simulation ever. But it's more than just a pinball simulation. This game is about pinball history, culture, art and the evolution of Gottlieb pinball tables over a period of forty years.

This game was produced with the full cooperation of the Pinball Hall of Fame museum in Las Vegas. And partly because of this, this game transcends a mere simulation and is truly a work of art. The game physics, the graphics, the audio and even the gameplay options reflect a true love of the silver ball on the part of the developers.

Having said all this, Pinball Hall of Fame is a great party game in it's own right, even if you are not a pinball fanatic. Pinball is, naturally, a turn based game, and this game supports up to four players with one controller.

I've played pinball simulations on Amigas, Macs, PCs, and Gameboys, but I've never seen anything that approaches this title in terms of realism. The tables look real, the sound effects sound real, and the physics...the physics are incredible. The control scheme is excellent also.

There are seven tables, plus one unlockable table and a few arcade minigames as well.

For twenty bucks, this is a great deal. There are tournament options and high scores are recorded (again, just like real pinball). And one thing that, to a pinball perfectionist, is absolutely essential. And that is, five balls per play are standard! You can, however, set it to three in the options.

This is a great game, and should be a permanent addition to your GC library.
