Summary: I've had my eye on Super Monkey Ball for a while, and finally picked it up used. While I'm glad I didn't spend $50 on it, I can say it is a heck of a fun game, especially for two or more players. (I also purchased an extra controller just for the purpose of multiplayer with roommates and girlfriends - all my previous Cube games had been 1p!)
Overall, I would say the single player experience is just a tad shallow. There are only about 90 levels. Granted, some of them are brain bustingly hard - but when I read than SMB2 has 150 levels and 12 minigames, I wish that I had bought it instead!
However, the game itself is quite fun. Bowling and Golf espeically are really good minigames. Fonkey fight is hilarious, too.
SMB is definitely worth 20 bucks, and probably 30, if you buy it new. When I come into a little extra scratch, I'll probably pick up 2 as well.
Summary: WOW, this game is addictively frustrating if there ever was such a thing, its a brilliant puzzler and up there with tetris for all i care, it was the first game i purchased with ma gamecube along with star wars and its the best thing i eva did! go out and live the magic of this addictive single player or multiplayer mayhem action

Summary: If I had to use one word to describe this game it would be UNBEATABLE! The game is just too good to believe. So maybe I haven't played Mario Sunshine and everyone knows he kicks ass but this game is one you just gotta have. So if you're getting bored of your current collection, why not spruce it up a little and treat yourself to what is easily in my top ten, Super Monkey Ball (1 that is, seeing as I haven't played 2).
Summary: First, let me clear out one thing; this review has no bias towards Gamecube whatsoever. I have played the game an estimated 200-300 hours and it is by far the most addictive next-gen game I have ever played.
You know, with incredibly easy games like GTA3, MGS2, Halo, and RPGs taking the spotlight of videogames recently (these are by no means bad games btw), us gamers really needed a kick in the rear. Now of course, we all knew it would come from somewhere, but this game has really shown us what pansies we've become in the last 5 years. Now, a game that you consistently get Game Overs on is bad enough, but a ridiculous Japanese game featuring Monkeys in balls that you consistently get Game Overs on will make you lower your head in shame. And that's just what this game will do to you, so for people afraid of failure, DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME! But, for the stronger-willed people willing to put up with the frustration and challenge, you may just find yoursewlf an Excellent, EXCELLENT game in Super Monkey Ball.
Summary: Overall, Super Monkey Ball is a good game, with few flaws other than the horrible bowling mini-game. The four character choices help make the game last longer.
