Activision True Crime - Streets of L.A. Gamecube Racing Review

Activision True Crime - Streets of L.A.

Description
The streets of los Angeles are being overrun with criminal scum and it's going to take a renegade ex-cop like you to clean them out for good. As Nick Kang, your brutal reputation and lethal skills have landed you a nasty job: heading up an undercover task force to stop the Chinese and Russian gangs from turning the City of Angels into their hellish playground. Across hundreds of square miles of L.A., you've got to drive, fight and blast your way through a branching storyline comprised of a massive array of unpredictable missions, using stealth techniques, martial arts moves and an ask-questions later arsenal. Looks like the hardcore streets of L.A. just met their match.

Price Paid:  $5.00 from blockbuster

Summary:
This game overall is almost like a clone of grand theft auto, but with some inprovements (control wise). In this game you are a cop fighting people, solving crime etc. The big difference between this and gta is it has really good hand to hand combat. You can pull off combos, grab the person flick them around, etc. Another thing that is different is the driving. You can lock on to enemies and shoot them with ease wile driving. You can drive into trees without crashing not like gta.You can frisk people for illegal weapons or drugs then bust them. This is the first gta style game for gamecube and overall its ok. But one big fall back is graphics. Gamecube can do so much more, and sometimes it lags a bit, activision should have fixed it up more for the gamecube.

Price Paid:  $50.00 from Waly World

Summary:
Where to start, well, the game has a plot like a B-action movie, but it has some neat ideas and the game is very fun. But somewhat frequent glitches or it tends to freez a-lot. Plus, the game tends to take a long time to load, and the graphics leave a-lot to be desired. But as I said before, the game is fun, and it is a game all it's own.

Price Paid:  $40.00 from HMV

Summary:
As a kind of Mafia/GTA/Driver mish-mash, True Crime sees you as a cop who works on the edge of the law, a bit like Driver, who is involved in a narrative story, like Mafia, and which has you often on foot kicking the bejesus out anyone you fancy, like GTA3.

This game had a lot of potential, but 2 solid hours in and I'm utterly bored.
