, from FloridaSummary: EA Sports Big is carving a major niche for itself with its over-the-top sports games, starting with the now-classic PS2 launch title "SSX Snowboarding. Freekstyle is a pumped-up and tricked-out motocross game that delivers extremely fast racing and insane stunts, all pulled off by real-life stars of the circuit. Freekstyle" offers a mixture of motocross racing and freestyle trick action that's hard to put down. Several big names from the world of motocross are represented, including Mike Metzger, Brian Deegan, and Leeann Tweeden. The courses consist of six racetracks and three freestyle trick parks, and while they're consistently deep and fun to take on, the game could use a few more, especially of the freestyle ones. With the racing tracks, you can choose to run it straight-up or as first-to-the-finish-line wins, or you can select the Freekstyle option where busting tricks to score points along the way is equally important. For a long-term project, try the Circuit Mode. Take your rider through a series of courses, unlocking new bikes, riders, and tracks along the way. The two-player mode is perhaps the most addictive part of the game, with traditional races and some unique new ways to play. The Countdown mode gives each player a certain number of points at the beginning of the race, and occupying first place and landing tricks takes points away from your opponent. Freekstyle" is not as immediately addictive as "SSX Tricky," due to its tougher AI and control scheme, but it's a worthy newcomer to the EA Sports Big pantheon. Crashing through flaming glass hoops while pulling off death-defying aerial stunts at 98 mph makes it a hard game to turn off once you've perfected it, and a thoroughly addictive two-player mode will help you get there.
