Summary: Ever since the year of 97 nascar games have been coming to consoles everywhere. Me being a huge nascar fan bought the nascar games anually. Every year I have been diccapointed by the poor graphics, lack of having every racer, and bad gameplay that the nascar series has had. When I saw this game I wasnt planning on buying it because of the horrible others. I decided to get this game because of reviews off of this site, I am so happy I did. This game is melt in your mouth perfect. One reason this game is the best sports game ever is because there is all 43 drivers in season mode and that makes it very realistic. I recommend this game to anyone who loves nascar like me or is looking for a good racing game.
Summary: NASCAR Thunder is, with no doubt, the best NASCAR game ever created. If you've been waiting for a great NASCAR game, buy this immediately. NASCAR Thunder is incredibly addictive. To racing fans, this is a must-have.
Summary: Its a great game and i think that even if ur not a nascar fan, youll enjoy it. fantasy track, legend racers like richard petty, dale earnhardt, benny parsons, etc. also features crete-a-car, career and season. also alot of paint schemes.

Summary: If you are looking for a good racing game for your GCN then look no further! Obviously there is a lack of quality racing games for the Gamecube. However, this title should satisfy your desire for speed.
This game features all of the 43 drivers and cars (Chevy, Dodge, Ford and Pontiac) of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. It also has all of the race tracks. It has all of the sponsers and voices from actual drivers.
There are basically 3 types of games you can play here. The 1st is your basic arcade style of play. This mode allows you to race as many laps as you want, on whichever track you choose, with any driver you like. The 2nd is the "Season" mode. You can pick the driver of your choice and race through an entire season. The 3rd is called "Career" mode. This is a little more complex. You start off as a rookie driver in the Winston Cup Series. You must choose a car, hire your pit crew, sign sponsors, etc. As you progress through your career (30 seasons) you must acquire new racing technologies to be competitive. You can change sponsors if you see fit. Fire and Hire new pit crews. And so on... You can really customize any aspect to your liking! It does take an amount of time to get all of your settings acceptable for your tastes. But it is worth the effort to do so!
There are also other parts of this little disc that can occupy your time. There is a training mode. A mode that allows you to "relive" some of NASCAR's greatest moments. Also lots of cards to collect on your memory card. Basically this game has so much content that gamers will never have time to complete everything in it! In fact, if you can collect every card and complete every different mode this game has to offer, EA sports should give you a $50.00 refund! Because the chances of this ever happening are slim to none! But don't worry, this game doesn't have to be complicated if all you want to do is get behind the wheel and do some racing. It can be as easy or as difficult as you would like! If you want just select the 1st mode I talked about and your ready to race!
I think many people will avoid this game because they're either not a fan of NASCAR or only a casual fan. If this is the case for you, then you're probably looking for a racing game that features street racing with street legal cars. Well let me give you a few advantages that racing in the Winston Cup Series has over street racing. In every street racing game that I've ever played you are pitted up against a different group of cars every time. In this game you're always racing against the same 42 cars. So, you eventually make your own little rivalries with the other drivers. I'll never forget when Dale Earnhardt Jr. passed me going into the final stretch of the Daytona 500 for the win. Now, every time I'm given the opportunity I try to run his @$$ off the track! Maybe it's all in my head, but it really seems like Electronic Arts incorporated driving attributes to all of your opponents! Every driver on the track seems to race with their own style.
Another advantage is that you will become a NASCAR expert if you put enough time into this game! I started playing this game only as a casual fan of the sport. I can now hold a respectable conversation with any die hard NASCAR fan! Before every race the MRN guys tell you a little history about the race track and a handful of drivers. And as I mentioned before you can play through some of NASCAR's most memorable moments.
The only minor problem with the game is the pit stops. Unless you play a long race with a few hundred laps you'll only make 1 or 2 pit stops during the race. The problem is sometimes if you don't plan out your pit stops right you'll have to make an extra one. Which normally would only be a minor setback. However, when you make 3 pit stops and the other 42 cars make 2 pit stops guess what?!?! You come in last place! Quite frusterating. A similar problem exists with the 5 second penalty if you enter pit road going to fast. That 5 seconds can move you back about 25 positions. Of course both of these problems could be solved if you play a full length race. But who has the time to sit down and play a 3 hour race?
Summary: I rented this game and I must say I was impressed. The only other Nascar games I've ever played are Nascar '99 {N64 and PS1 versions] and Nascar 2000 {N64 version ) In those games it was easy as pie to get in first and stay there and only 20 cars would race at a time. However you would crash all the time! It was fun, but also kind of annoying. However, in Nascar Thunder 2003 for Gamecube just about everything is better! The AI actually will be challenging and they will even bump you into the grass! All 43 cars race instead of just 20. The computers will pit for fuel (which means you better get yourself a fast crew] Note: this will only happen if the unlimited fuel and tires is turned off. You can now still race even if your car is ripped to shreds. Also you can pit during caution! {something that was not in 99 and 2000]. I love the new career mode where you create yourself and your car,buy sponsors, and your crew and try to make yourself known among Nascar's stars. This is really a good choice for fans of racing titles.
