Mystic Heroes is basically a Anime version of the Dynasty Worriors series. The main goal of the game is to kill the evil Emporor Kang, his sudusive wife Sheva, and his two advisors/generals Kai and Grifion. The Four main characters Tai, Naja, Shiga, and Lani each have their own special abilitys and unique magic atacks. Tai uses lightning magic, Naja uses fire magic, Shiga uses wind magic, and Lani uses ice magic. When you get further into the game you find runes, magical stones that give the possesor its power, which can change the magic attribute of the character you equipt it to. NOTE: YOU CAN ONLY EQUIPT TWO RUNES TO A CHARACTER. During the game one or more allies join your "party" to help fight in some stages, however they will leave after the stage(s) are finished. Each member of your "party" has two or more guards which are less important than the leader of the team and can "regenerate" or "reincarnate" when the leader retreates.(Say that 5 times fast!) If the leader of a team is killed they cannot "regenerate" or "reincarnate" and their job as captain will go to the first guard in line. As the game goes on the enemys will get harder to kill (as always) and the bosses will get more and more important to the plot. The final boss is actualy Cyrus, Kang and Sheva's son. He becomes a large dragon-like living corpse which is realy hard to beat if your magic is weak. The game takes about 3 hours every sinario, a sinario is completed when you beat the game with one character. NOTE: UNLESS YOU ARE PLAYING THE PS2 VERSION YOU CANNOT GET SECRET CHARACTERS OR NEW MODES OF PLAY! TO GET SECRET CHARACTERS BEAT ALL STAGES IN SURVIVAL MODE!

Summary:
Nicely well done... I love this game! It's nice to know there is some hack 'n slash game on the gamecube that doesn't tire you out. I love everything from the graf-x to the scenery and the characters are equally distributed with their forte's and weaknesses. I just wanna know if you CAN GET THE SPECIAL SECRET CHARACTERS: raja, mirah, capt. dax, and kai... ??? anywayz, its just been 2 hours and im nearly done with the game! i love this game as much as phantasy star online! =)*)

This game has a healty long single player 8 missions 4 stages in each mission and each the chracters take slighty diferent routes through the game. may i add the bosses in this game rule i dont want to spoli them but compared to mystic heroes dynasty warriors bosses suck.

There are over 70 runes to find (and 4-5 secret characters) and about 26 different spells the runes hold 4 spells and you can equip two runes at once runes also give you special abilities like pluses to strength etc. for example one runes makes you go super speed forever which is fun i attack so fast the enemy barely hit the ground

There is also a survival mode which has 3 categories easy meduim hard and 4 stages in each and for each you earn a special runes which are cool after doing all 3 you have to do them again but in expert mode which I can tell you has some lifespan
It took me over an hour to do the medium and over an hour to do the hard lvls on survival and expert is harder then that.

Multiplayer consists of 7 diff modes which are all basically who can hold the orb the longest (fun mode as every one running away from each other after getting orb)

Flip the switches (ok mode but you just randomly bump into the swtitches rather than find them most the time)

and the rest are basically dm but fun

what i forgotto mentionhere is on all the 5 versus maps you can have millions of bad guys including bosses running around to fight aswell

Then we come onto the coop which is cool and offers 5 maps (making 10 mulitplayer maps in total.) these are fun which friends but you can only pick certain runes in mplayer which is a bit poo but its all good running around while ur friend gets battered by griffon (most bosses have their own unique spells) and hats off to however does stage 5 as i tried with 3 friends to do it and we all got our butts kicked and stage 3 or 4 i forget rules!!

Others things worth metioning the game has good cutscenes

The voice acting is turd

The lvl designs contain sercrets where runes are hidden

There are loads of different type of enemies not just all men

In mplayer you can revive the other people and join together to do a massive attack (with 4 people all doing it its fun)

my brother got a 144 hit combo with the sword spell

graphics are good chars model are good but slight fog

fog amount depends on level some have less than dynasty warriors some have same amount

no vehicles :(

not as many allies on screen as dynasty warriors (when leaders of squads get on low hp the run bak to start and refill on men)

some leaders use unqiue spells

Overall this game has provided me a lot of fun i played 9 hours with one char my bro played 8 hours with another char im now playing on hard with a diff char been playing 5 hours with that char and my bro been playing same amountof time with his other char and survival up to now took me 4-5 hours and multiplayer with friends lasts forever (ive played more than 4 hours in a row still havent done all coop yet)

more fun than dynasty warriors but no vehicles and not as many chracters but better bosses lvl design and spell system + multiplayer
