Summary: It was.. interesting. It depends, if you have played the original, you may not want to play this, it comes up short in nearly every aspect compared to the first one. I think I'll stick with the NES.
Summary: When I borrowed this game, I dicided to read some reviews first. They all siad this would be a great game. So I played, and played it, and played it some more. Now, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?! I'll be quite honest. This has to have been the worst and most annoying game I've played! Almost nothing makes sense and blind luck is the rule of thumb. For people like me who rely on logic, we are completely doomed with this game. Some parts required nothing more then frantic running around and pushing of buttons. Not only that, if I ever find another empty book or useless item in a video game again I'm gonna scream! Things kill you that shouldn't at every turn, which means saving every 5 seconds is a must. I find myself often wondering why I bothered picking up items. Half seem to be useless and a good deal of them do nothing but kill you. All in all, this game isn't worth the supplies needed to make it and the brain power wasted attempting to solve it.
Summary: Okay, honestly, this is a lousy game. Just to start off. It's good at first-- the puzzles require common sense but aren't impossible-- but gets much harder and more tedious at the end, to the point of which eventually you'll be hard pressed not to keep running back to your computer for a walkthrough. I know I did. After all, the game is just that: puzzles, puzzles, and more puzzles. And books which give hints to the puzzles. And items which help you solve the puzzles. Anyway, the plot is you're a halfling (midgety elf creature) who was traveling with a caravan that was raided. You were thrown in a dungeon in Castle Shadowgate, and you have to escape. The plot soon unfolds into a rather complicated and interesting one-- possibly the game's only strong suit. Of course, the ridiculous puzzles are always there to annoy you and prevent you from knowing more of the complicated and interesting plot.

Summary: Awesome riddles and puzzles. This game exercises more your brains than your reflexes. As a RPG fan, this is one of my most favorite game of all time.
Summary: Back in the old days of gaming, when the NES was the system everyone was talking about. When young children believed that they were Mario or Sonic the Hedgehog. There was a game called Shadowgate. Over a decade later (thats 10 years if you didn't know). Kemco decided to release a sequel to their NES classic. Shadowgate 64: Trials of the four towers was the name of this game. How does an updated old school RPG game survive in todays era of extreme violence and loveable mascots? If you hadn't already guessed from the overall score, then read and find out.
Ye Ol' Plot (4/5) Long ago, powerful sorcerers, might warriors, and mythical beasts walked the land. In the kingdom of Kal Torlin, a fierce battle raged between the King and some dark evil guy called the Warlock lord. This bad guy caused a whole lot of pain and destruction, and was labelled 'not nice' in the eyes of many. But, you play a halfling named Del Cottonwood (if you use your imagination, he's a sheep stuck in a tree). He needs to escape the castle's dungeon.
Lasting Appeal (4/5) The game is a little too short. It can be finished in under 10 hours. I was only 1 hour into it when Runinruder told me I was 25% through. I'm sure if you enjoyed the game immensely, you'll be coming back to get a better time. I dont know how long you could keep playing this game before you fall asle...Zzzzzzz.
Whats good about Shadowgate? - Interesting plot - Nice sound - Old school RPG
Whats bad about Shadowgate? - The graphics are silly - Its a bit short - Its a bit boring.
Overall 3/5 A good idea for a game, but doesn't fit well into modern day gaming. Probably for the people who played the first Shadowgate. If your up for a game that will challenge your reflexes and have you killing things, then this isn't the game for you. If you just want a break from killing and want to play something more relaxing, then maybe you should hire it first.
