from Funcoland Cherry Grove #745 Summary: When a new system is released, it’s almost guaranteed that some sort of Tetris game will make an appearance. The Playstation has Tetris Plus, Dreamcast has The Next Tetris, and even the as-yet-unreleased Gamecube will have Tetris Worlds. No game today can match the sheer addictive quality that Tetris has, and that’s why it appeals to so many different gamers. I’ve even read letters from the elderly that express their love for Tetris. The game’s reach is seemingly boundless. I’ve played just about every version of Tetris available, and I have to say that the New Tetris on N64 is far and away the most fun to play.
It’s a shame that the N64 is at the end of its lifespan, since few will get to enjoy the goodness that is The New Tetris. As it turns out, not many people enjoyed it while it was in production. It’s quickly becoming one of the more sought after N64 titles, usually fetching around $40 a copy. If you do decide to throw down the cash, its money well spent. The gameplay enhancements and multiplayer make this game superb. As a matter of fact, this game has been inside my N64 for quite a while, except for when I’m playing Sin and Punishment…
I hope this review helps show gamers a fun game for the N64. I've had a blast with it, and I'd like others to have the same opportunity.
The bottom line: If you have an N64 and have no puzzle games, I strongly suggest picking this up. It’s great for parties, and the single player mode can entertain for hours on end. Stay away from Tetrisphere, though…
