from Microplay Summary: Road Rash was one of the first series to take a stab at vehicular combat, certainly the first to succeed at it. Unlike the recent batch of Twisted Metals and its uninspired derivatives, which are commonly associated with the “vehicular combat” genre, Road Rash fuses actual racing with combat. So it isn’t just a fighting game with cars (or motorcycles as the case may be). It’s definitely a fun concept, but unfortunately EA has handled the series with as much care as the rashers do with each other. The series peaked with the first installment (known to most as the Tomb Raider syndrome) and began a slow, but noticeable degradation. Then come Saturn and PlayStation the series had become a ghastly wreck. Leading up to Road Rash 64, not even developed by EA, but instead by the upstart THQ. How did they handle this once venerable franchise?
In short, if you enjoy the exaggerated antics of the latest Road Rash games, then you could potentially enjoy this. I think it would be an amusing game to rent for awhile, but take my advice, do not buy it. This is one of those games you will play nonstop for a week and never touch again. Report this review >>
