Summary:
I still play around with Duke. Particularly because I like to make maps with the game's Build Editor. Now, to start of this review, I'd like to warn some people of the content the game features. It contains a lot of blood and gore with a tad of sexual humour thrown in. So, I guess this game would not be suitable for younger gamers. Oh, and it also has some coarse language.

Now with that aside let me say that Duke Nukem 3D is my favourite game, for the sole reason that it is the game I have probably played the most. As for my second favourite, I think that would have to be C&C: Red Alert because I've clocked it two times and I love its video sequences. But, back to Duke. If it wern't for the game's Build Editor it would have probably lost its long-term appeal ages ago!

So now let me tell you some more things about Duke3D. The first time I saw it I was amazed! In a computer game shop the clerk was playing it and I was looking over his shoulder. I was amazed at the realism and the detail, where I saw him moving through ventalation shafts and going into bathrooms etc. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before. At that time the only first person shooter games I had witnessed were basic stuff like Wolfenstein 3-D and Doom. Duke was definitely something revolutionary.

I believe that Quake came around the same time as Duke, which was another revolutionary game because it incorporated 3-dimensional sprites (enemies, objects). Duke, however did not. Duke just has 2-dimensional sprites. But I'd take Duke over Quake because Duke has much more interactivity and humour while Quake sort of just improved on the old Doom theme.

My first taste of actually playing Duke Nukem 3D came when my father brought home some disks with the shareware version installed on them. And that was quite an experience. And probably the most entertaining thing about it was the humour. For example, when you'd blow up monsters with a rocket propelled grenade Duke would say: 'He-he, what a mess!'. And when you'd make him relieve himself he'd go, 'Ahh, much better!'. It was simply the best FPS game I played.

Eventually, my friend got the full version of Duke3d, and I must admit, I was a tad jealous! But now, just last year actually, I bought my own copy since I kept borrowing my friend's! And, well, I still play it.

My friend and I have been building Duke maps since we were in year 8 of high school, which was a little while after the game came out, and we've been still building them since. It can take a while to work out how to make stuff, like doors, but you get there. I can't do everything though (yet).

To finish off this summary, I will tell you what Duke Nukem 3D is all about, since I have told very little of what it actually is! Well, its a first person shooter where you control a stereotype action hero macho-man who must save the Earth from a race of very ugly-looking aliens. These aliens have rudely stolen our chicks, so Duke is really doing it for the women!
I guess that is about it. The other things I can say about it can go in the other sections. Happy gaming!

Summary:
Duke Nukem is one kickass game filled with sex, violence, and raw fun. Sure its old but i will say the same thing youve heard many times before ITS MADE IN 96! Im slightly pissed that Duke takes his one liners from great movies like army of darkness, evil dead, they live etc etc etc but oh well. he is still a badass.

Just an all around great game. I estimate that for the two months that ive owned it, it has pulled around 48 hours out of my life all together. Theres nothing like hearing Ol' Duke say, "Damn, those alien bastards are gonna pay for shootin' up my ride!"

Summary:
First off, I just want to revoke what some other reviewers have said. Many people critisize this game for its dated graphics. Come on, people!!! This came out in 1996!!! This was when Doom II was still fairly popular. I had played the Shareware version of the game, and it is really original. (for its time) You could fly using a jetpack (can you do that in Quake?), use Nightvision goggles, Steroids, and all manner of cool stuff. Nonwithstanding the dated graphics, the gameplay is fun, and rarely gets dull or repetetive. You play over a variety of settings, such as cities, pool halls, bars, space ships, football stadiums, prisons, and movie sets. I really enjoyed the game, as well as the funny (albiet vulgar) ending movies for each episode. Duke talks, on occasion. For example: After a really big explosion, in which I wiped out a lot of enemies, Duke says "Oooh, thats gotta hurt". Other comments include; "Its down to you and me, you one-eyed freak!", "Ah, piece of cake", "Ah, I needed that." Also, this game gave the world its first taste of Mouselook. It was also the first FPS EVER to feature Laser Trip Mines, pipe bombs, richocheting weapons, and toilets that you can use and drink from. This is basically the best a game can get when it is based on a pre-rendered engine.
