Summary:
This is the breakthrough game for PC's... Games are now either noted as PRE-MYST or POST-MYST games. For a game to receive that kind of status, it must have done something no other game could.

Now. I feel that I have a unique perspective on this game. I bought the game right after it came out in 1994. I COMPLETED the game (something I can say not many people have done). I not only completed the game, but I completed the game without help from ANY hint books (something I can say even fewer people have done). I lost the game during some moves. I got on the internet and found the game being sold for ONLY $4.00. I JUST had to buy it. It gave some nostalgia. Great buy if ONLY for that reason.

You are playing the unwitting hero who falls through a fissure and lands on a small island. You know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING at the beginning of the game. Which is good because your CHARACTER knows absolutely nothing. The instruction booklet helps you very little in respect to guiding you through the game (which, I feel, is the way it should be). You become your character and your character becomes you.

A QUICK NOTE: It is June of 2003 right now. Why am I writing a review 9 years after its release date. Two reasons: 1) I feel my opinion of the game is VERY valid 2) I have absolutely NOTHING else to do today.

One thing I have learned about games like MYST. You either LOVE this kind of game or HATE this kind of game. There really is no In-Between on this. It is NOT for the person who likes fast paced, shoot 'em up games. It is a THINKING man's game.

Summary:
You walk around and try to figure out puzzles to get red and blue pages. in the end you have to set one of the men trapped in the books free if you pick correctly the good man comes out but pick wrongly the bad man comes out.
There are a few worls that you have to get pages from.

Tip: turn on all the switches on the starting island go to the library and click on the map.
turn the tower untill it goes red. open up the tower and go up. go arround the back and climb the ladder. it should give you a code.

Summary:
Welcome to Myst. You have opened a book into a sureal world then fallen into it and left to fend for yourself. This is without a doubt, the most revolutionary game of all time. It is the standard for puzzle games everywhere. Myst was without a doubt, lightyears ahead of it time. When the game starts you are on this island and basically told to go explore and have fun. Oh, and you aren't told what to do. That is the fun part. You must figure out what happened on the island. And any gaps in the story you fill in for yourself. Myst was a world that invites you to get lost in it. It was a wondrful gaming experience that I will never forget.

So, overall, I think that for its genre, this is the greatest game ever made.

Summary:
Myst was released in 1991, I believe, and it became a classic. Clearly,(if you've played it), it is not a game that everyone would enjoy, but I did very much. There really is no game like this one. One of the most unique things about it is that when you start, you don't know what the story behind this strange island is, nor do you know what it is you have to do. You have to figure it out. I loved the puzzles. Some of them were a bit hard, but I figured them out. I also liked the way the plot had many unexpected twists and turns. And although it was usually still and quiet, it was exciting. The only thing that really disapointed me, along with many other people, was the ending. Overall, it was still a great game and I highly recomend it.

Summary:
I'm reviewing this game after such a long time because I think there has to be said something about it after this shortly after the release of its remake, "Real Myst". No remakes are able to make this game more entertaining and interesting. The game had already two remakes, but it didn't help. It is, of course, original, but is absolutely not worth to be called a great or even a good adventure game. It is actually not a real adventure at all. One good thing about this game though: it is not violent and is not reduced to some idiotic I-shoot-you-before-you-shoot-me plots.
