Summary: It's been 6 long years since the last game in this series, Monkey Island 2, was published, and in that length of time our hero, Guybrush Threepwood, has grown up. No longer an adolescent wannabe pirate with a fake beard, he is now a tall and gangly young man and looks the part of a real (if still incompetent-looking) pirate. I'm sure that he will be relieved to hear that since he's tried so hard to look like one in the past. Everyone wondered how the writers were going to bridge the gap between Monkey Island 2 and this game, especially since they were faced with two unusual problems: explaining the now famous ending of Monkey Island 2 and, since this is an ongoing saga, introducing a whole new generation of gamers, unfamiliar with the older games, to all of the beloved characters and memorable events that have gone before. I am happy to report that they have succeeded brilliantly, and the result is a wonderful game that is fun for both those who are new to the story and long-time fans.
As the story begins, I see Guybrush alone, adrift somewhere deep in the Caribbean near Monkey Island ..... in an amusement park bumper car with a half-eaten corn dog! He doesn't know how he got here: all he can remember about it is that he was at the 'Carnival of the Damned', but he isn't exactly sure what happened there. Convinced that he will soon die on the water, he is writing down his final thoughts about his previous adventures and bemoaning the loss of his true love when, suddenly, he hears cannon fire. He looks up startled to find that he has drifted right into the middle of a raging ocean battle between the demon pirate LeChuck and Elaine, his lost love! But unfortunately before he can join her, LeChuck captures him ..... and here we go again, off on another "rollicking tale of swashbuckling adventure with dull blade, rapier wit, and humor"!
Summary: Oh, my,my... Here comes the tough question: is this the best computer game ever? Well, it is so difficult to say, because almost all the games by Lucasarts are so perfect, that it's hard to choose one... But my heart is with "Monkey Island" series. This is the best of the bests, those three (now 4, but alas, I can't play the fourth on my computer) games are over the limit between a mere computer entertainment and something that's called ART. The "Curse" is, of course, no exception, it is funny, like always, it is SUCH a fun to play, you really get a good feeling! And it's not too difficult - fun has to stay fun! The graphics, animation, the witty dialogs - everything is so perfect! I don't know what can be better than this - maybe Grim Fandango, I'm not sure. At this level, better not to compare.
Summary: I believe this is the best game in the hsitory of the universe. Yes, I'm talking about the ever popular Monkey Island series! We join our hero, Guybrush Threepwood, Pirate-in-training, as he tries to save his friend from a terrible pirate curse and fight the ever popular scoundrel, LeChuck. This is a wonderful game for anybody. The game has two different styles: Hard and Easy. This is helpful for people who are new to the adventure gaming world. Not only is it clever, it is also hilarious. Jokes are thrown from every corner and they get funnier every time you hear them. This game is flawless. buy it TODAY!
Summary: The Curse of Monkey Island offers some great gameplay and I recomend it to adventure gamers everywhere. However, it must be said that it's WAY too short and the ending is almost non-existant. Lots of gamers hated the "spaz factor" of Guybrush in this game, but, if you really think about it, he was never really all that together. (Have these people played The Secret of Monkey Island Lately?!) Allthough I must say I got tired of Guybrush's whinney excuses for not using certain items in certain ways.
