from ebworld.com Summary:
Admittedly, this game has sat unplayed on my shelf of to-play-someday for quite a while. Given to me as a gift, the game box looked about as interesting as watching Oprah *yawns*. Being rather bored during Spring Break however, I decided to take a gander at this uninspiring looking game and what I found was a rather addicting game with a promising backdrop.
The game itself starts off with your premature demise in the town of Nasgoth. It appears that one night you’ve tipped back one too many cold ones and kicked out of the local tavern for causing a ruckus. As you stumble drunkenly through the streets, your beset upon by thugs whom kill you and loot you clean – everything from your gold-filled purse to your Wolverine issue #1 comic book. Desperate to reunite yourself with your precious comic book, you form a pact with mysterious Mortanius. You are granted immortality through vampirism so that you may seek out your prized possession and seek vengeance upon those who stole it.
Legacy of Kain is a game that definitely won’t appear to the squeamish or faint of heart. Often players will find themselves relying on the blood of sturdily bound innocents just to stay alive. Though noble souls may wish to only drink blood from that of their enemies, they’ll soon find that enemy blood alone will never be enough to last them for long. After a certain point, even noble gamers will find the blood of innocents a juicy presence. One that will tantalize and tease you at your weakest moments until you chug down the contents of their writhing bodies.
Legacy of Kain delivers a truly disturbed, depressing, and definitely first-rate gaming experience. The high-paced action mixes well with a story that steers players through ever twist and turn of its plot. Like an orchestrated symphony, the game gradually crescendos into a titanic clash of epic powers. Winning in this horrific, hard fought battle is guaranteed to leave players with a smug sense of accomplishment. And that my friends, is the true test of a great game.
