Summary:
I just played Diablo for the first time (Aug. 2004). I wish I had played it much earlier before playing great games like Morrowind and the Baldur's Gate series. Then I would be able to appreciate it as the classic that many have claimed it to be. Anyhow, I found this game very entertaining from start to finish. It was easy to learn to play, suspenseful, and I didn't notice any bugs (which is a real surprise for games nowadays). I am glad that I finally got around to playing this and will definitely be playing Diablo 2 (plus LoD) next. For anyone who hasn't played Diablo yet, it's definitely worth a look. However, don't expect it to rival games like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights in complexity, options, gameplay, or anything else. Again, it's good old hack-and-slay arcade action with a pinch of role-playing thrown in.

Summary:
Add me to the list of gamers that think this title was quite overhyped. I understand that it was developed in 1997, but the game's flaws have nothing to do with the graphics being outdated. In fact, I enjoyed the artwork and sound of the game. The problem is that this game is a dungeon crawl with no storyline or depth. Some people enjoy that type of game and that's fine, but I can't understand why it received all the accolades that it did. And yes, I will also point out that this game is NOT an RPG (sorry to be yet another person who raises this argument). The previous reviewer said that this game couldn't be classified as an RPG, action, or adventure title. Well, he got the RPG part right... It's basically a third person action game with fantasy elements and an extremely simple (even for 1997) combat model.

Summary:
This game is one of the Golden Games and shall live in the hearts of all who have played it forever. Mainly you slug your way through dungeons and kill monsters with an incredible variety in weapons. This game can't be classified as an RPG or an Action or for that matter an Advenure Game.
