Summary:
Great game. Far more accessible than most other "sims" without dumbing itself down. Great fun.

Summary:
I remember when this game first came out about the same time as Janes WWI fighters, like most people I was drawn by the graphics of WWII fighters and forgot about EAW for a long time. Now years later playing it again I realise how superior it is as a game, in fact in my opinion the only WWII simulation that surpasses EAW is IL2 Sturmovik.
Amazingly you can pick up EAW now for around £4 ($7) the current releases come with the 1.2 patch which you install seperately after installing the game. There are also lots of sites by the EAW community where you can download any number of great graphical enhancements from terrain to effects, Max188 is a good site to start, also you can download a device called EAW control at max188 which allows you to increase screen resolutions to 1024x768 and beyond and makes it as crisp as todays simulations.

Summary:
This game was by far one of the best flight sims that I have every played. After the patch was installed it was a game that I actually played for hours every night trying to make it through the war. I enjoyed playing the diferent planes and found several that I really enjoyed.
I loved the aspects of actual ground targets plus the fact that you had to watch what you did on an attack run. Too low and you kill yourself too high and you miss. I have played and finished only one campaign from start to finish without dying once though I cost the RAF several fighters in the process.

Price Paid:  $25.00 from ONLINE

Summary:
I have played several of the air sims and despite the fact that there are newer ones to be had...with somewhat better graphics...EAW still beats them all. Without any add-ons the game is an 8.5 on a 1-10 scale...utilize some of the numerous add-ons that are available and you have a game that ranks 10 plus!!! The campaigns are better than anything Janes has in it WW2 sim (in my opinion that is) and it is not as "work" intensive as Battle of Britain. The number of planes available to fly and fight against are a real plus to gameplay...again this is enhanced more so once you utilize the add-on skins and files that are out there. If the air warfare of WW2 interests you...get this game and the upgrades...you won't be sorry.

Summary:
Great game but i have to give feed back on awards points system for the game, very poor.. the german luthwaffe gave awards for a number of planes and points system for Knight's Crosses .ect..ect.., it took a huge number of shot downs to receive the IC 2nd class, in the theater of operations the IC2 was automatic after first shoot down .. no matter if the mission was successful or not.. same goes for the IC1 and futher awards.. same for the British Empire there was only 4 pilots that i reasured for the last 15 years that didnt even awared a DFM.. any pilots with 5 or more victories will still receive the DFC no matter the mission outcome.. especially if it was a officer..as for the americans a certain number of mission flown got the air medal no matter if it was a failure or not the DFC was given out like candy, silver stars ect.. the MOH was rarelly if ever giving for missions in Europe , i think maybe a dozen.. im not sure if any fighter aces recieved it or not, but there was a large number in the pacific (my area of aces expertize is enemy )..promotions different story altogether understandable rapid rise in losses of fighter leaders.
