, from UKSummary: Uprising would appear to be the first game in what will become a flood of variations on the theme of real-time-strategy (RT.) games such as Command and Conquer and Warcraft. Instead of controlling your minions from above these games put you on a 3d battlefield directing your troops and harvesting resources from a first person perspective. Activision have Battlezone planned and there are a host of other similar games waiting in the sidelines. Uprising succeeds in adding to the RTS game not only through the use of 3D graphics but also shifting the emphasis from strategy to action. It doesn't have the fast action of Quake nor the strategic depth of C&C but the gameplay is well balanced. This may not be everyone's cup of tea. But if you like the idea of Quake mixed with Command and Conquer then this should appeal. The graphics are ok but by no means great, and the sound is passable, but once you start playing the game the thrill of commanding a battle can really go to your head! The multiplayer game is also great fun. although it can on occasion turn into a set of one on one deathmatches. Overall this game is well above average, but it may be facing tough competition from other games fairly soon. Report this review >>
