, from San Jose, CASummary: I would classify this as a lackluster RTS game. Dominion really doesn't advance the genre of RTS game all that much. It imitates predecessors more that building upon other's work. The lack of originality translates to gameplay that's disappointing. There are a few gameplay advancements made, and they make for nice touches, rather than advances of major elements of game play. One thing I found very annoying was that all four races have almost exactly the same technology. Then there was lack of line of sight. The buildings have way too much armor. The AI has no idea how to pick out weaknesses in defenses, and continues hitting the same place over and over. Even when the AI breaks down a wall of gun towers, the AI sometimes runs to another side of the base and bang its head against the gun towers there. On the graphics side, I would say that this is decent. I like the rendered animation, and the movement of units is crystal smooth. The landscape art looks nice. Some of the buildings look a bit old, like someone's gaudy furniture chest. The ability to go up to 1280 by 1024 resolution is a nice treat.Sound is okay, but nothing really memorable. Could use a bit more variation in the type of music. It gets tiring to listen to the same audio track over and over again playing the single player missions.Overall, this game is overwhelmingly superseded by other titles that have distanced themselves from the original C&C. The idea behind buying a game is to get a different experience, not to replay an experience from another title. Report this review >>
