Summary:
Carmageddon TDR2000 is the third (and final?) in the awesome series. For anybody not familiar with the series do yourself a favor and get acquainted. While not really bringing anything new to the table when considering Carmageddon 2, Carmageddon TDR2000 does what it was intended to do and that is continue the winning formula without dropping the ball.

Summary:
Carmageddon TDR2000 is kind of expensive for a game that's been out for over two years. If you search the internet for add-ons, you wind up with more broken links that active ones. And if you are like me, and already own Carmageddon 2, you may be very leary of purchasing TDR2000 for these reasons. But let me assure you, you will be glad you did.

I purchased this game for its multi-player merits. I have not played, nor have I the intention of playing, single player mode. I have a LAN of five desktops and a laptop that I use for playing this game, which allows six people to play at once. This kind of gameplay was not possible with Carmageddon 2 unless all PCs were running Windows 98SE, as the only network protocol supported by C2 is 16-Bit IPX. Carmageddon TDR2000 allows TCP/IP for network play, which is compatible across multiple platforms.

It wasn't easy to set this up on all the systems because the game requires that the CD-ROM be inserted in all computers simultaneously. I tried to find a NO-CD crack, but the only one I could find was outdated and would not work for this version of the game. So I had to crack it myself, which took several hours. I then had to crack it again after installing the NoseBleed patch... which fixes a few problems and adds three new tracks and ten more cars to the game. I did not try to make copies of the game CD-ROM, so I don't know if that will work for those who have similiar multiplayer set-ups but aren't handy with a disassembler.

Summary:
If you haven't played any of the Carmageddon series, this is the one try. It features large, unrestricting maps where you race delapidated cars geared up for some racin' and some killin' in a post apoctaliptic scenario. The levels are expansive and feature lots of stuff you'd expect to find in a city that you can avoid or just plow through.
The single player game consists of a storyish mode where you race against opponents, attempting to complete the checkpoints and also a series of missions where you attempt to escape each area to move onto the next area.
The racing is great fun while the single player missions are usually item collecting chores.
Racing at top speed down city streets with the computer players is thrilling watching people on the streets screaming as they try to get out of the way but usually end up as a pile of dismembered limbs and a torso. The track itself has an outline where they suggest you should follow but there are numerous shortcuts and as long as you can get to the next shortcut who really cares if vehicular manslaughter is necessary, I mean, they shouldn't have been on the sidewalk.
There are powerups scattered around and they can be beneficial or detrimental. Most of the power ups are pretty cool but there is a serious deficiency of weapons in this game, totally lacking inspiration or even relative usefulness. The most fun power ups would be the ones taht influence your environment like the one that turns the pedestrians into overweight tubs of lard that usually don't dive fast enough to escape your car.
The idea of the game is to win races and cause copious amounts of carnage that tally up to dollars in you pocket which you can use to upgrade a few aspects of your car or purchase your competitor's cars that you demolished in that level. There are a large anmout of cars you probably won't be able to buy them all by the time you beat the game but once you beat it all the cars are unlocked.
This game has multiplayer which is fun as well.

Summary:
Good gameplay overall, but the soundtrack detracts from the game a bit so you just have to disable it. It is a lot easier to kill cars in this one - I dunno maybe I just need to set the difficulty a little higher. The time limit totally SUCKS! I have tried to hack the time limit out of the game to no avail. It doesn't give you hardly any time to do anything like drive around and do crazy ass jumps or hunt peds like the other Carmageddons. There isn't even enough time to hunt for cool powerups either. You just have to run the race or exclusively hunt down cars and kill them for more time.
