, from UkSummary: Well it was the box, pcg'r reviewers. Seduced by the faux leather finish and the mock silver badge(neatly held in place by a black suede bootlace), i simply had to buy this game, i also had to buy it cause i knew no other fool would get it and review it first to tell me what it was like lol.Quite right to, because from the moment you insert the disc and hear the "authentic" sound of a Harley engine chugging along with the loading bar progression, you know this is alien territory. Indeed it seems (from the packaging to the product), that Wizardworks have no concept of what software publishers can get away with these days. Basically the game goes like this. Choose your hog, select one of the garishly terrained states to drive through (California equals blue sky, Arizona equals desert shades), and remember to stop for fuel refills.Thats right your cycle guzzles gas at an alarming rate, meaning you have to pause(not actually stop) at strategically located trailer park stations in order to refuel. "Gettin Gas!" the screen says as you fill her up "Outta Gas" it screams as your cycle slows down to a pedestrian (but curiously stable) 40mph thirty seconds later. "This is Crap!" you scream, upon the realisation that handling in Race Across America is more to do with tilting the bland scenery to accomodate your bike than actually steering your vehicle. Winning races secures you a small purse with which to buy new bike parts - a small concession to contemporay PC gameing - but thats about as 'right here , right now' as it gets. An absolute disgrace in our times, and - along with hunting games and college sport sims these are evil which should never be seen or heard or spoken of. Conclussion. An appallingly executed motorbike racer.Utter rubbish from ham-fisted start to painful finish. Report this review >>
