Review NaN of 74
, from New York

Summary:
Ah, the MMORPG community. They are a dedicated bunch. Devoting hours and hours and hours to devolping a character in an online world. Then again, living in New York, escpaing to another world seems pretty tempting now and then.
The problem with these games are, unless you are someone with a lot of time on your hands, it is difficult to really enjoy the best parts of most of these games. Now, I'm a hardcore gamer, but I'm a casual MMORPGamer. Lots of EQ hours, toyed around with a couple of others, and I've come to notice a trend in these games. There are 3 stages to all of these games:
1. The newbie stage. The bright eyed, bushy tailed character who is amazed by the level 30 guys walking around with their flaming magic items of power, are killed by butterflies, and everyone is a stranger.
2. The intermediate stage. These people have learned the tricks of the trade. They know some of the shortcuts, know a couple of people, and have a few items or abilities to take pride in. However, they are still killed someonte easily by the harder monsters.
3. The masters. These people have levels in the double and triple digits. The game is their world. They challenge the gods and have mountains of cash. These are the characters that people stand in awe of. We are in awe of how long they sat in front of the computer to get to this stage.
My point is, there are few MMORPG that are enjoyable for newbies, and fewer still that are enjotyable at ALL levels. Anarchy Online is one of those rare games that did everything wrong, fixed it, listened to the complaints, and eventually, got everything right. Don't be fooled by the low reviews of this game. Those are based on the disastrous launch AO had. And they are well deserved. But today, this game screams of a company and a group of developers who:
1. Learned their lessons
2. Are sorry for their mistakes
3. Have made up for it by fixing, and improving, their game.

Why?

Price Paid:  $4.00 from Ebay

Summary:
I was pleasently surprised at this game. I checked out the beta and after a week I dropped it like a bad habit. It has been 2 years now I think and after a friend really talked me into picking it up I can say this game is one worth picking up now. I played AC1 for over 2 years and enjoyed it until I got sick of the game and I have read enough of AC2 to know it is not getting my money but if you are interested in a mmrpg pick up AO now. There is so much content, quests (missions) and things to do and learn, ships to purchase to move fast, computer skills alow you to master the grid to move anywhere across the huge land fast you will be playing this game alongtime just to see and learn it all.

Summary:
I've played 3 MMORPG's so far - AO, DAoC, and AC2, and imo AO is the best one. DAoC is a pillar of stability and has one of the best pvp systems ever implemented, but is one of the most shallow online experiences I've ever had. AC2 is the most graphically advanced MMORPG out right now and very accessible to the casual player but is also shallow and simple in comparison to AO.

Price Paid:  $40.00 from Comp USA

Summary:
AO takes place on the planet Rubi-Ka, where, thanks to something called notum, resurrection is possible. Omni-tek controls most of the planet, while the Clans fight their oppressive reign. The Neutrals just sit on their arse in the middle and laugh.
