Price Paid:  $5.00 from Sarajevo

Summary:
Certainly one of the best turn based strategy war games out. Why? Well because of the Zoom in graphics. Ya you can elevate yourself to a birds'eye view of the battlefield and then, controlling the map in shogun fashion, zoom right up to each unit. This is great for checking things like dead-ground and line of sight. The damage and suppression models for each weapon is detailed and realistic.

Summary:
Small things makes the big picture.

Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord is a game which is more immersive more than you would expect. I considered the Close Combat series to be the best in small scale warfare until CM:BO dropped by. #1 on my list is the engine which is equal to or better than CC. #2 on the list for CM is the possibility of creating new maps, either randomly or by hand which is something I severely missed in the CC series.

Summary:
This is an incredible game. I've played a few other wargames like West Front or Panzer General, but none can compare to this. Not only is it in depth, but its nice to look at as well. I recommend this game to anyone who has the slightest interest in WW2 gaming.

Summary:
not a first person shooter, but simply the best tactical wargame around. takes place in ww2 from the american landing 'till the end of the war. has german, english, french, canadian and us forces in a plethora of scenarios (many made, in addition, by a large player base), an amazingly simple (but flexible) "quick battle" generator (for those who do not need to play a historical battle), a map/scenario creator to make historically correct battles, and pbem and tcip built-in support.

Price Paid:  $45.00 from Online Battlefront.com

Summary:

CLOUDS OF BROWN SMOKE from burning trees and the wooden roofs of villages roll across the battlefield under a gentle breeze, streaked at intervals with the black, oily discharge of a flaming tank; a continuous rattle and chatter of small arms fire overlay a steady cannonade from German armor and the thunderous volley of artillery: minutes into the battle, two of my tanks are burning, half my infantry’s gone to ground, and now Lt. Owen reports that the bastards might have a Tiger! It’s going to be a long day…

Atmospheric. Gripping. Exciting. Tense.

THE GENIUS OF COMBAT MISSION is that if you want historical detail, it’s there. If you just want good, uncomplicated gameplay, it’s there. If you’re into careful planning, it’ll pay off. If you’re into a “devil may care” style (since electronic soldiers don’t leave electronic widows), go for it.

THAT’S WHAT I ENJOY MOST about Combat Mission: its flexibility. I can re-fight legendary tank ace Michael Wittman’s destruction of a British tank column with minimal damage to his Tigers. Or I can simply use a randomly generated infantry assault on a village. I might, during a long lunch, experiment with different methods of protecting a fortified position. Or just see how much damage I can do with a King Tiger.
