Summary:
'Sweet budda.. this is actually a SIMULATION!', went my exclaimation after playing a few hours of Sub Command.

I bought Sub-Command off the shelf in desperation at the current dirth of decent flight sims. I'd already dabbled in the inevitable chopper sims and even thought about commercial simulators.. this was my last stop before I gave up and went home.. I will NOT buy a train simulator.. I will not buy a train simulator.. I will no....

Anyway.. Sub command actually turns out to be a superb simming experience, fun and very educational. I've learned a lot more about sub operations from playing it. In a fit of generosity, developers Sonalysts have provided 4 subs for you to command; the cutting edge 'Seawolf' (USA), the not-so-cutting-edge-but-still-pretty-cool 'Improved Los Angeles' (USA) and, my favourite, the 'Akula' and 'AkulaII' (USSR) in all thier double-skinned, 30kts yumminess.

As a simulator and a game, it scores points on all levels. From excellent depth (no pun intended) to great replayability and even semi-decent graphics and cools sounds!

Out of the box, the quality and general buglessness of the game is really good. Especially compared to many flight simulators. Upgrading the game over the internet irons out a few of the (very) minor inaccuracies that there are. Basically, although there are a lot of patches for this game, its really because the support from the developers is so damn good.. theres very little wrong with the release product.

Summary:
A semi-fun and acurate game that will gives hours of play time. If you are looking for a sim that makes you i.d. vessels only through sonar and makes you figure out your own target motion analasis, then this game is for you. The game can be a little tedious and the briefings get a bit boreing. More time should have been used on graphics and the sound. Not a bad game for $20, but don't pay anymore or you're being ripped.

Summary:
As a former sonar technician in the Ohio submarine force this game kicks $@#! I missed getting 688i and glad that I did. If I would've gotten it, there would be comparisons all over the place. The AI for this game is just like we trained for in the submarine force. The crew at sonalysis need a A+!

Summary:
Submarine enthusiasts waited for such a game for a long time. It is an all-time-classic game which interests not only a small portion of players but even those who never showed an interest in this type of war. It is a must for every sub enthusiast. In other words: don't lose this chance... A final tip: you should print in any case the user manual which is found in one of the two CDs. It contains useful information for both advanced and novice players.

Summary:
I didn't buy 699(i) Hunter Killer when it was released even though I really liked the idea of commanding a submarine. That was years ago now and when I heard about Sub Command I jumped at the chance to order it. Happily, when the game arrived I was not disappointed. It is reassuringly complex and comprehensive, pretty much as I would expect from a "proper simulation". However, because of this, would not advise a non sim-lover to buy this game.
