Review NaN of 2
, from Sydney, AustraliaSummary: If you're looking for animated swooping aircraft and options to give headsets to your passengers, stop reading this review now - you're wasting your time. HOWEVER,
Sure this game has shortcomings, and we'll get to those; but if you ever find yourself dreaming of running your own airline, this is a fun place to start.
There are two competitors in this field: Airline Tycoon, from Monte Cristo, and Airline, from www.airlinesimulation.com.
"Airlines 2" lies somewhere in between these 2 games. It is not a "Management Simulation" like Airline, neither is it a "game" like Airline Tycoon. It's somewhere in between. I'll call it a Management Game.
If it's accurate business realism you want above all, I recommend "Airline" hands down, but the spreadsheet style interface isn't for everyone. (Neither does it pretend to be).
If you're looking for "Leisure-suit Larry style" airline management, you should stick with "Airline Tycoon".
If you can handle less depth than "Airline" but you still want 'some' graphics, I recommend this game, "Airlines 2".
"Airlines 2" is stripped of all cheesyness and more like solving a puzzle than anything else. At first I felt frustrated by the game limitations vs. those of real life, but the more I played, I found the simple game limitations were in fact quite cleverly constructed to enforce a small degree of realism into a relatively simple game which has succeeded in keeping me busy for many many hours.
