Summary:
This has to be one of the worst games I have ever played.
The GUI is clunky at best, and the game itself is boring. Little detail available for cities, planets etc, and my experience existed solely of a Scout ship running around on its own collecting artifacts.
What turned me off this game the most is the 50 year time limitation. I had collected perhaps 10 artifacts, then the game shuts down asking me to order a CD.
This 50 year limit only shows the most basic of lackluster play and does not even come close to giving me the urge to buy this game.

Summary:
Starships Unlimited: Divided Galaxies is the newly released retail version of a science fiction strategy game that was originally released as a shareware title in 2001. Available by direct order from Matrix Games, Starships Unlimited: Divided Galaxies is an empire building game set in deep space. Although the newest version of the game sports improved graphics and sound effects, its shareware origins are still apparent; the sights and sounds of Starships Unlimited are a bit rudimentary when compared to most new games. Yet, whatever Starships Unlimited lacks in 3D eye candy or melodramatic voice acting is more than made up for by its tremendous depth and replay value. Due to the relatively modest system requirements, you don’t need a Pentium 4 or the latest video card to enjoy this game. With its rich gameplay and many customizable features, Starships Unlimited is likely to spend a long time on the hard drives of sci-fi loving gamers.
