Summary:
Get ready for the flight of your life !!! hmm what ? Altitude loss - this is what i can say about this game. As a flightsim it perfoms so poor i can't bare to write it - however as arcade shoot'em up great. I'm glad i found the game so cheap i'd be very dissapionted giving full price for it.
I bought razorworks Comache Hokum and Gunship at the sametime the first game i played was Gunship, and boy i was dissapionted.

Price Paid:  $40.00 from A military base

Summary:
The game is pretty good. Yeah if you're a hard core sim person then it sucks. This game is more of a "out of sight, out of trouble" game. you can't go head to head with a tank, you have to stay real far away and take it out with your missles. IF you get close you get shot up pretty bad. The avionics in this game are as realistic as I've seen in a chopper sim. You really need to practice using you collective corectly. It's not a loss, I play it somewhat when I'm just looking to puts around and shoot stuff.

Summary:
I guess you could say I bought Gunship! almost out of sheer curiosity. Everything I'd read about it ranged from good to bad...with bad being mostly the norm. I got it for a decent price and went about trying it out. Yes, it has problems, but I have found that once you settle down and spend some time figuring it out, it isn't too terribly bad of a game. Really, I think how you rate it depends upon what your measuring stick is. If you compare it to Longbow 2 or Falcon 4.0, then yes it's not the immersive sim that those two games are and if that's what you prefer then it will be quite a disappointment. However, if you're like me and just enjoy games, then it's not too bad. True, I prefer the Falcon 4.0 and Longbow type games, but I'm actually having fun with Gunship! But it does have it's problems, some of which there are no excuse for.
The documentation with the game is somewhat vague in places and doesn't help at times. I have found that I just have to do some trial and error and read the manual as I go along and soon I figured a few things out. The documentation could have been much better.
It just seems that this game is so close to being a very good one, yet some people didn't pay attention to detail when they shipped it out the doors. It's too bad. They could've had a great one on their hands. The support is almost non existent also. There is a patch that is supposed to help you customize how the helicopter behaves, but I can't get it to work. The patch is essentially worthless.
My advice to anyone contemplating buying this game is basically to think about what you want. If you want a complex sim then steer clear of Gunship! If you can put up with a few problems then you may find that there is some fun to be had here. Either way, don't pay full price for it. Wait until it hits the bargain bin to pick it up...then buy it and have some fun. Now excuse me while I boot it back up and go blow up some tanks.
