Summary:
To begin with this game is certainly not for everybody, even if it were a good sim(which it is`nt)it would really only be of interest to those gamers into naval history or WWII.There are a bunch of gamers who only play naval sims at SUBSIM.COM which is a useful scource of info and downloads etc. I`m a big fan of WWII games and have played most WWII flight sims, land based games, and also silent hunter 2, but I`m afraid this one falls short of even silent hunters low standards, sadly it`s also the only naval sim of it`s type (Janes fleet command is a totally different type of game) so it`s all you`ve got if you like that sort of thing.

, from HMS Starling, Atlantic Gap

Price Paid:  $24.00

Summary:
Overall a good game given the total lack of anything similar on the market. The crashes and the lack of in game saves (more hope and pray that save and return) is a bit of a pain. The most annoying thing was the total lack of playing anything but the US Navy. Being British it did get on my wick a little bit - - after all the Battle of the Atlantic wasn't the all American fight that the Pacific was. I accept that its an American company, but come on guys it how ahard would it be to add the odd British ship class to the list?

However this was a minor gripe and overall I found it an enjoyable sim almost on a par with SH2. One thing though annoyed me greatly - where was the connectivity so long promised between the 2 games - naughty that!

Price Paid:  $44.00 from Babbages

Summary:
I purchased DC after buying and playing Silent Hunter 2. I was very pleased with the SH2 game overall. DC on the other hand is a somewhat large disapointment.
I found that the historical accuracy is very good, however, the game is prone to crashes and the save game is the worst of it's problems.

Most of the time, when you complete a mission the game does not save and you have to start all over again.
I think that for the money, there should have been less trouble with the save game.
SH2 had some of the same problems, but they weren't nearly as bad.
The lack of the external ship view, is missing from this game, I think that Ultimation should have capitalized on their excellent graphics and put this option in.
If you don't mind going over and over the same missions, hoping that the save game will work. Then buy it. I couldn't find any downloadable patches for this specific problem at their website. But they do have a patch available for download that seems to make the game run a little smoother.
Had I known that the game crashed as much as it does, and I couldn't save a game, I would have waited until a better version had come out before I bought it.
