Summary:
Like many others.. the severe shortage of decent helecopter sims has forced me to reinstall this game and again, I'm totally shocked at how playable it still is. If you're on a budget and are looking for a thoroughly enjoyable romp through helo-siim country, forget Commanche 4 and head straight for EECH.

Summary:
I`ve recently re-installed this game and played another campaign in this helicopter sim and it reminded me of how good it is, not only is this by far the best helicopter sim around but it has one of the best dynamic campaigns of any military simulation. If you want a true chopper sim forget the arcade style Commanche 4 or Gunship and give this a try.

Summary:
Great game when it works. If you take time to notice in the back of the manual on troubleshooting, it says Comms System failure may occur, which requires the entire system to be restarted. Even after reloading the game with all available patches, the problem continually got worse to the point of not working at all. I have E-mailed razorworks and still have not heard from them yet. Other than that, it's deffinately a great game all around.

Summary:
Commanche v Hokum is probably the best helicopter sim available, you can play as either a commanche pilot (US) or Hokum (russia). Apart from the scenarios there are 3 full campaigns, Yemen, saudi, and Taiwan, and it`s here that the game excells. The campaigns are really immersive and move in real time, as you progress in day one for example it will begin to get dark, then it`s night and several hours later the sun comes up, just as you`d expect, you can of course accelerate time but it`s also fun to use another great feature of the game which is the smart cam. As you cruise towards your target on autopilot the smart cam will give you a ramdon selection of all the other action thats going on, airstrikes taking off, troop movements, and other attacks and you can stop at any point to watch a scenario develop, this really gives you the feel of bieng an integral part of the war, and of course you are, if you fail a mission for example you will have to fly it again later, or another squad may be deployed to do it. Your campaign is sucessful when you eliminate all the key enemy targets, the only drawback I found is towards the end of the campaign when the enemy is down to virtually nothing, and there is no action to watch on the smart cam, they don`t surrender, you have to go right down to the wire to win.

Summary:
Nicely crafted game whose emphasis is on the dynamic campaign. I really get the feeling that I'm playing a small part in a much bigger action. Several simultaneous operations are going on including ground and air engagements, deployments,
transfers, and supply missions that must be escorted. This provides a variety of missions from escort duty to recon to CAP and SEAD to choose from. Damage to an enemy FARP (Forward Air
Refueling Point) or airbase elicits supply missions from another airbase as they begin to repair it. These can be intercepted or you must occasionally return to the same area and hit it again until your side sends in the paratroopers who secure the new territory and then you can use it as your own base for refueling and rearming. Radio chatter helps to enhance the campaign
feeling. EECH melds in very well with its predecessor Apache-Havoc, which must be installed and played first to integrate them. But each are stand alone games too. I found EECH at CompUSA for $19, a real bargain for a game this good. Stands the test of time because gameplay is so good.
