Summary:
Steel Beasts is arguably the best tank simulator ever made. It's not perfect, and no game is, but it gives you a feeling of being there. This is a game that has something called 'verisimilitude', which means believability. Like any video game, it can't totally replicate armored combat, but it sure makes it believable.
Straight out of the box, the game is full of challenging missions that can keep you busy for weeks. Missions include recon, ambush, movement to contact, assault, and defensive missions. Plus, there are patches available to upgrade the game. The online community has also put both single and multiplayer missions on the internet which you can easily download. And if that isn't enough, there is a powerful mission editor/creator that you can use to extend the life of the game on your hard drive.
If you have any interest at all in tank sims or even sims in general, this is a game to get. I've seen it for as little as $7 in some places these days, and it's well worth the money.

Price Paid:  $15.00 from local store

Summary:
This game is the best tank sim I have ever seen and played. Since I played the old M1 tank platoon, I wished a sim that would make the behaviour of the AI better than one of sitting duck. This is definitelly such an one. Very good AI, precise models of simulated vehicles, true tank gunnery, no cheats. Simply a true simulator of a tank. If you wanted to try how is it inside a tank, this one brings you as close as it is now possible. It features Leopard 1A4 and M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks and the main American, German and Russian battlefield vehicles from the late 80-ies. If you want to ride a tank, this is a conditio sine qua non!

Price Paid:  $70.00 from PC Medic

Summary:
This simulator from the world of "Tanks" rates far above any other company's (if there were any) attempt at a truely realistic and interactive "game". The ability to assume command of a single vehicle to the entire battle group is smooth and functional. In fact you could even play the entire "game" from the map and only "jump" to a vehicle to check out the battle. The preplanning stage allows you to plot routes and conditions for all of your units, which they will intellegently follow.(no driving through lakes or rivers stupidity here) The terrain is modeled correctly and realisticly, although not 3d excelerated. Having the capibality to be in the comdrs seat[3 different positions there] or if required assume the vehicle gunners position, although the AI can preform both of these functions with what would appear to be human logic.[ie firing, shifting positions] The wpns characteristics are modeled from the real thing as are the sounds. This simulator has for multiplayer enhancement the ability to have 2 humans within each tank, as cmdr and gunner. The sim is flawless during multiplayer with not having seen a single problem in 3yrs of play.
And as a note here the military training college at West Point purchased 1000 copies to asist and train there future commanders in Tank operations.

Summary:
An absolutely outstanding simulator. I'm a tanker in real life, this is better than some of the multi-million dollar simulators the Army has.
