Summary: I'll admit it. The new Tomb Raider game for PS2is awful. I continue to play it, though, mainly because of my need to know the whole story. But as I play that, I am reminded of what a diamond-in-the-rock the original was. How great Lara looked when I first saw her , when she first swam for me, when she first shot a bad guy to protect me, and inevitably. how broken I was when she first fell, screamed, and (sob) died for me. Oh Lara, you may kill endangered species, target everyone you see, and blow up international monuments, but man you rule in this game! When I first saw the T-rex, when I first pulled that lever, and when I first did that running-jump-with-a-slide-down-dodge-the-boulder-smimmy-and-land, i knew that you were something extremely awesome.
Summary: This is one of the best games made for a console, ever. Tomb Raider to the Playstation is what Doom to the PC was, a classic that will forever be remembered as one of the greatest achievements in gaming history. I haven't played a game since, and I've played a lotta lot of games, that has captivated me the way this one has. Resident Evil came close. So did Gran Turismo, and even the fun and cute Hot Shots Golf, But Tomb Raider is number one in my book for greatest console game of all time. Not even the Playstaion 2 with it's advanced graphics has yet to come out with (and may never) anything so captivating as TR1. I've played this game about 5 or 6 times and I've never tired of it. It's been about a year since I played it last and I think I'll give it another go this weekend. Looking forward to it.
Summary: the first and not the best still worth playing though better than tr3 this is where the phenomna started well lara croft in her debut and what a game the levels are really good tombs and more tombs occasional mummies which explode why gorrillas bears wolfs yes the four legged variety human enemies in this game well techinally scary then well yes even dinos raptors and the t-rex and medi-packs weapons highly fast then yes a action adventure lara croft can climb ledges jump over long distances this is where you see no one but the wild life
Summary: I recieved this game for Christmas.I was at first turned off by it because of the lousy graphics and difficult control, but I later gave it another try and I'm glad I did.I must say I am becoming quite addicted to it.It's the first Tomb Raider on the Playstation, and it's a very fascinating game. You basically play as the British queen of gaming,Lara Croft herself. You run around in caves, ancient cities, tombs and many other places shooting bears and wolfs, solving puzzles to unlock doors and exploring deep into tombs. It's alot of fun and you can get this game for under 20 bucks as a Playstation Greatest Hits game. The controls will most likely take a while for you to master them,it can be dificult to make Lara walk and turn her around and it can be pretty tough on the thumbs, but you will get the hang of it.Lara can do backflips, tumbles, high jumps, and sideways jumps. What's cooler, she is equipped with 2 pistols right at the start of the game, which is nice. While holding down the walk button,Lara can edge her way up to high ledges to look down. With the walk button held down, she will not fall off the edge of a ledge. She cannot duck, unfortunately, but in Tomb Raider 3 she will gain this handy ability.Lara can dive into water and you have a bar that slowly decreases as you stay underwater. When it's empty, your life meter goes down rapidly and you will take damage until you surface for a breath of air,so you have to be careful not to get lost while your exploring underwater areas. You heal yourself with Small and large medipaks which can be found in certain places, laying on the ground. You can pick them up and save them to use for when you are low on life. Lara is difficult to move and you will crash into walls alot, and sometimes find yourself falling off the edge of a cliff, but you have to look past the slight control flaws.

Summary: There are a few moments in life when you know you have seen something revolutionary. Something that will remain with you for the rest of your playing days. In 1996, Tomb Raider was such an occasion. Of course it looks a little dated these days, but are the Beatles and Elvis any the less great because they were recorded in mono? Are the classic novels of Homer and the Bronte sisters of any less value because they are printed on paper.
