Review NaN of 10
, from Minnesota, USA

Price Paid:  $12.00 from Home Video

Summary:
There was quite a stir in the gaming industry when Blizzard first introduced the game "Diablo" to the PC almost a decade ago. As video games have progressed since the advent of Diablo, many of us have seen what some would refer to as Diablo clones. Anyone who has played Diablo as much as I have (i still play the original on my possessed PC) will recognize immediately that Darkstone for the playstation has some elements to its gameplay that make it very much like a Diablo "clone." Basically, Darkstone is a hack and slash "go to towns, kill things, go on quests to help pathetic mortals, kill more things, get items and spells to help you kill more things better" kind of a game. The difference between Darktone and so many other Diablo-esque games is that Darkstone is one of the more evolved diablo-esque games out there, especially for a little over $10.00

Review NaN of 10
, from Portland, OR

Price Paid:  $10.00 from Fred Meyers

Summary:
Not much into RPG games initially, thanks in part to the annoyance known as Diablo (itty-bitty characters, armor / weapon restriction, always having to lug yo'sorry ass into town, etc.), I was a bit skeptic about Darkstone. But, hey, for $10, why not check it out?? Personally, I think Darkstone is MUCH better. You can choose from 8 different characters who all start off with the same stats in their class (meaning you can pick either a Warrior or an Amazon and not have the points lower because one of them is female), so you may fight the Monk-Turned-Dragon Draak.

So ready for my opinion? Coz here it comes!

Price Paid:  $10.00 from Wal-Mart

Summary:
Fantastic fun! My brother and I play this game constantly, and I have to admit, there is a lot of game here for just $10. DarkStone plays very similar to Diablo, which may or may not be a good thing depending on which side of the RPG spectrum you prefer. Still, the lack of any real character growth doesn't demean the fact that DarkStone is a decent investment for very little pocket change.

Review NaN of 10

Price Paid:  $10.00 from Babbages

Summary:
It's really hard to complain about a game that only cost $10 brand new. Unless of course, it really really sucked, and Darkstone does not suck.
In fact it's pretty decent for a hack-n-slash RPG.

A monk goes renegade, transforms into a dragon and you gotta take him down. That's the whole plot. Should you be concerned that the plot can be summarized in one sentence and 14 words? Hmm... nah. Not if hack-n-slash is your thing. Just don't expect "plot" or "character development." There is a loosely woven story, but this is a pretty straight forward Diablo clone. In fact, I think it was originally designed for the PC.
PSO was so much fun and Lodoss War actually has a story, so I'd thought I'd gamble on the purchase. I was kinda disappointed, but for $10, I really can't complain. I was really there to get Final Fantasy Chronicles, which Camelot Music had for $5 cheaper than Babbages did.
