Summary:
GREAT GAME! in my opinion this was the greatest counsel game ever, the only game that surpased chrono cross was ever quest (pc). i got this game in 2000 now 3 years later (just beating it a few weeks ago) still playing it (new game +) lynx (altho not the truest evil) had to be the coolest villian of all time, serges weapon was awesome, great charater development, great plot, best battle plan for the playstation, so many side quests, really long, the only thing wrong with this game was it ending, i wanted it to go on forever!

, from Missouri

Summary:
Oi.......It's really sad how much people can complain about nothing. Before i wrote this review, i scanned down 1/4 the way down the review list and was already deeply disgusted.I actually saw someone complain about this games music!I mean SURE if you aren't a big fan of rpg music then you may not like it,but other than that i don't know of any reason that anyone could possibly have to rate this any lower than a 4!I also saw people complain about the story. Complaints 1,2,&3 follow, and i will also tell you what i think of them.
Complaint1:"It didnt follow crono trigger" oh please. name ONE final fantasy that is an actual sequel. There isn't, unless 1&2 or one of the real early ones where. So please just appreciate the fact that the story ties in a little with the prequel,(***spoiler alert***; the story ties in one way because Lucca, the nerdy smartgirl from CT was kidd's "big sis" and adoptive mom,i think.***spoiler end***) which is more than the entire FF series, as good as it is, can boast.
Complaint2:"it was confusing" Yes i admit that the story is quite strange and unorthodox, but anyone without ADD or 40 cups of coffee in them should be able to understand it enough to know whats going on. On to my favorite, number 3!!
Complaint3:something along the lines of"the boss at the end was just thrown in." I'll go back a bit and explain to you ADD Or Java-loaded people what happened.
*************SPOILER!**************
time devourer was the ultimate form of the dragons, who, except for possibly white dragon, where evil or passive at best.Lynx, for all his coolness and stuff, was essentially a pawn to the dragons, and you kill him something awful.the dragons, for reasons i can't recall right now, decided to merge after you smite him and there you have it.Time Devourer was the evil behind it all, much like Lavos for you CT peoples(although CT was a fine game too)Lynx could be somewhat compared to Magus(CT again)because you think he's the ultimate evil, but it turns out he's not and theres something much bigger behind him. There, i hope thats plain enough for you all.
************SPOILER END****************
on to what was surpassed in stupidity only by the music thing, complaints about the graphics.Yes i know that compared to FFX or MGS2 or other PS2 games it doesn't look like much, but even then it shouldn't be compared to the poor deseased denizens of FF7,which could only boast a good story and okay characters.Back in the day, when it was new and the PS2 had just started out or maybe even after,if you were to show the graphics
to a room full of people, the only ones that would rate it "bad" or even "kinda okay" would be few and they would have to be people afraid of video games going 3D, or theyed have to be like the guy in that one commercial where he accidentaly hits the "no" button 'cause another guy accidentally knocked him unconcious. And yet again we must trudge on to another complaint.
The Characters. Many many complaints about the characters, ranging from "there are too many, and half of them are useless" to "you dont get to connect to the characters, because there are too many."I scoff at theese arguments, although i myself admit to having just one problem with the characters. The ONLY problem i really have with the characters(well, except the trivial problem of "i don't like that character because he's
butt-ugly" or things along those lines)is that there simply aren't enough Dual and Triple techs. The only one i particularly cared about was dual-slash or X-slash or whatever, it involved glenn and serge.and i never used a triple tech, being as how my favorite team didn't have one(Serge, Glenn, and Pip were my fav. team.)and even if they did, the battle system didn't really compliment the whole dual/triple tech thing well so i probly wouldn't have used it anyway.the arguments i scoffed at earlier are both pretty dumb, and yet again, both are easilyargued away. The "useless" argument is quite simple.Since there is a "dead-weight" character in almost every RPG,(like in final fantasy 10 i never used Wakka except against ahrimans or evrae.that, sadly, is just about it)logically a game with easily 3 if not more TIMES the characters would have more dead-weights.Although it all really depends on your particular tastes too.I, for example, think Skelly is a total and complete waste of time, and draggy is okay to use every now and then, like against a black boss when i couldn't have pip(because he'd die with the first freefall or blackhole and draggy wouldn't).My cousin, Drew, however thinks that draggy is crap and skelly is awesome(cough cough wierdo cough)so really "one man's deadweight is another man's team" hehehe.the "i dont get to connect" thing is just not that true. There is some lessening in connection, but not enough to make a "4atleast" become a "2".i used my happy little team throughout the entire little game, and i grew to like my crew.I would go "awwwwww...." whenever Pip said something that began with "sergikins" and would become emboldened by Glenn's highly valued Honor and chivalry.the people who lodge this complaint must switch their team every time the pass a savepoint or go onto the world map 'cause i connected just fine to the characters, just like i connected with the characters in any other RPG.
Well, enough of my inane babling.on with the review!

Summary:
This game was awesome, and it has an extremely high replay value with New Game+ so you can play it again and again. One of the most interesting and complex multi-leveled story of any RPG that I've played, and I've played quite a few.

Summary:
Hmmm I did not catch my attention as fast as Chrono Trigger did when I first played it, But as I played more and more I grew very found of it.
The story... It's a bit confusing, but as one plays and the story unfolds it fits very nicely with itself and its predecessor Chrono Trigger.
Overall.. It's a great game.. I suggest playing chrono trigger before playing chrono cross in order to understand the whole story better. If you enjoyed Chrono Trigger you will enjoy Chrono Cross. Keep in mind Chrono Cross is not really a 'sequel' to Chrono Trigger eventhough both stories are interlaced.
I wish Squaresoft would have elaborated more in the endings.. Yes, I've seen the different endings.. I don't think there's a 9th ending..

Review NaN of 202

Price Paid:  $45.00 from Best Buy? it was 2 years ago...

Summary:
Ok so I played through this game over 2 years ago. The only reason I'm posting a review is to tell all you idiots who wrote before me how stupid you are. DO NOT COMPARE THIS TO FINAL FANTASY. Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross have NOTHING to do with FF aside form thier creator. I'm still puzzled as to why Square included CT on the american release of FF collection or whatever its called... the one with FFIV.

CC had an engrossing story... the only 3 charecters that you ever TRUELY learn anythign abotu is Serge, Kidd and Lynx.. ok that one chick too... Lynx's minion... I forget her name - but the story is ABOUT {the afformentioned 3} and there is some growth to the side charecters too... just not as deep as {the 3}

You really dont even get into the plot till 2/3's of the way through. and TRUST me - it's deep.
