Summary:
Who says the only games worth buying are the new ones?

Too often I hear gamers frown upon what has already been done. But there is something to be said for the classics. With gaming having been around as a profitable franchise for over two decades (including such consoles as Atari and Intellivision, plus arcade games), there are plenty of people out there who have not played some of the real classics. Personally, I can count myself in this rank, my first console being an SNES. So it was time for me and my young gamer brethren to rejoice at the release of Final Fantasy Chronicles.

FINAL FANTASY IV: I was first introduced to RPGs late in the SNES's life with Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and by that time SNES Final Fantasy titles were rare. The fourth installment in the Final Fantasy saga, Final Fantasy IV tells the story of the Dark Knight Cecil, who took up the dark sword for the King of Baron, who treated Cecil and Cecil's best friend, the Dragoon Kain, like sons. But after Cecil completes are particularly immoral assignment as commander of Baron's airship force, the Red Wings, he begins to question the actions of the king and is stripped of his command. Thus begins Cecil's adventure, and his battle against the evil force that is pulling the strings.

CHRONO TRIGGER: Arguably one of the greatest RPGs of all time, Chrono Trigger tells the story of Crono, his inventive friend Lucca, and the princess-in-disguise, Marle. Living happily in the year 1000 A.D. in Truce Village, Crono encounters Marle for the first time during a large annual festival, shortly before she disappears into the past via Lucca's newest invention. Armed with his trusty katana, Crono must likewise travel back in time to save Marle-merely the first step in an adventure spanning the past, present, and future!

Summary:
What can i say? Chrono Trigger was and still is one of the greates rpg's alive and if you dont like Chrono Trigger then you are not a true rpg fan because thers something wrong wih you. I love this game despite the old snes graphics and all but the anime scenes make up for them all. the Final Fantasy part is also amazing. It still has the same magic to the story it used to have back in the snes days.

Summary:
Final Fantasy Chronicles is two classic games now for the Playstation. First I'd like to start off with FF4, it is a medieval style final fantasy with great gameplay and an awesome story. The story is fantastically put together with betrayal, death, and some unexpecting suprises. Its graphics of course aren't as great as Chronotrigger but still nicely done. I personally like 2D RPGS so this package is definatley a great buy. This game is without a doubt an instant classic. There may not be many sidequests but I had fun exploring the various areas of the game the line of charters are the best in any of the final fantasy franchise. Cecil is an awesome mysterious Dark Knight who becomes a Paladin. Kain is an honerable dragoon. Cecils lover Rosa, Rydia a summoner and Edge a powerful ninja. The enemies are detailed extremely well. In FF4 they add some nice FMVs, more text, and the ending is a definate must see.(reviewed by Glenn). Now for ChronoTrigger this SNES Classic returns with FMVs for each character. The game has a good line of characters with a great story to go with them. The game comes with over 10 different endings which will make you wanna beat the game over and over just to see what happens differently to each character. Chrono Trigger is loaded with different techniques to help you defeat your foes. (reviewed by Logan)

Summary:
I read so many good reviews on this game and thought I'd try it out. I'm sure it WAS a good game at one time, but it's outdated. The monsters in the game are repetitive and they offer so little EXP that it takes a darn long time to level up your characters. However if you DON'T, then your guys, you will have an extremely hard time getting through areas as you progress in the game.
The action times are annoying and it takes forever for that stupid little Rydia to flick her fingers together to perform a spell.
All in all I played it just to say I got through it but I won't be playing this again.
It takes way too long to level up, and the storyline are way outdated.

Dont get me wrong, I'm an oldschool nostalgia-buff raised on 8 bit Nintendo and SNES, but after you've played more recent FF games, you start to see why this game is out dated. I think those who gave good reviews seem to be fond of it because it reminded them of when they played it long ago.

Summary:
This game had me pondering why Square decided to return such classics and why they called it Final Fantasy Chronicles if one of the two games does not even relate to the name entirely? Not that I have anything against Square’s decisions it’s just that I’m merely interested in their choice of games. I realized a few days before purchasing FFC that several, and some of them critical, elements were removed from the SNES versions due to some petty belief about American culture, but I don’t want to go there just yet. Anyway, Square wanted to give the next “generation” of video gamers a chance to indulge upon two of their much-acclaimed titles and prove once again that they are masters of RPG. As most of you already know, Square exhibits well thought out RPG’s, and their way of thinking is quite unique from any other video game company. Final Fantasy 4 provides the concepts of RPG simplicity at its best with the use of good old traveling and fighting while Chrono Trigger dwells upon Square’s genius toward creating interesting plots. This is truly a gift from the game gods, and with two games in one I couldn’t resist but get my hands on this little marvel as soon as I knew it hit the shelves.

So you’re probably asking, “What’s so great about old games coming back?” If you ask this simple question then I completely understand what you are trying to convey. For instance, I love Pac-Man ever since the Atari days and after all these years several renditions were created just to lure us players to purchase yet another Pac-Man title. Sure, it’s fun watching that pellet eating monster run around devouring aimlessly but game play tends to get boring after a few minutes. This also applies to several games that I’ve purchased before such as Game & Watch Gallery 2, but Final Fantasy Chronicles is remote from that. Not only does FFC game contain old school gaming we all know and love, Square also included a few worth-while additions that will have you jumping for joy knowing that every single penny of your purchase was worth it. Trust me, I’ve played the older and much faster loading, versions and after finishing both Final Fantasy 4 and Chrono Trigger from FFC not a single thread or piece of gaming was changed. No more reminiscing for me, now I can easily take back the time simply by plugging these games in my PS2 and boom, it’s just like watching embarrassing home movies, but it’s something I actually enjoy.

When these games came out, they defined what adventures should be. Since then, they have become the most popular and sought-after titles in history. Now you can experience the re-release of two complete, classic games, enhanced with all-new cinemas and features never before seen in the U.S. Great job Square.
