$0.00 Summary: I wish to say something before I go any further: I am not an RPG person. Of all game types, RPG's are my least favorite. With that in mind, one can see that I was very impressed with this game.
Final Fantasy 7 is about some guy named Cloud who decides to help out a terrorist organization called Avalanche. Soon enough, things get out of hand and what started out as a simple mission turns into a very complex situation. The primary objective throughout the game seems is to defeat Separioth, some guy out to destroy the world. Of course, there is also a big corporation after you who would also like the pleasure to destroy the world. Seems like evey one would like the world to die except you and the many innocent bystanders throughout the game. (My synopsis is quite short, but if I were to go into any more detail, I would confuse everyone including myself.)
Anyways, the player goes through the game collecting materia, which is used to summon beasts and do all sorts of spells. The player then defeats bad guys along the way using the boring RPG mode: one attacks, then one attacks, then one attacks, etc. Basically, throughout the game all the player must do is read a complex storyline, tell people to attack, and find stuff in treasure chests. I said basically, for one of the game's highlights is how it intersperses small minigames (for example, at one point the player snowboards).
This game was realeased back in the 90's, so obviously I am a little late playing it. So, when I mention graphics, I state that the graphics for the most part of the game were average for the timeperiod. That is, until the immediate end, where the graphics get really really good. However, there is a certain spot in the game where the graphics were so horrible I almost had to turn my head away. I would say where, except I would spoil the game.
The game showed a few SPELLING MISTAKES (UGH) and other interal errors that could have been easily fixed. Also, THERE WAS WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too much Japanese writing, which could have easily been fixed if someone had taken the time to fix it. Some summon spells take forever to do, and the end boss is not the hardest boss (which is dumb).
On the plus side, the game had good, but not great, music, and for the most part this game was enjoyable to do. The puzzles in the game were sort of fun to solve, and I had a good time beating this game.
As I said before, I am not an RPG person. This game is very good for even my standards.
I give this game a 5 and reccomend it to mostly anyone, especially those who enjoy RPG's Report this review >>
