, from USASummary: Alundra is, in my opinion, an amazing game. Good story, fun gameplay, very challenging puzzles, and surprising depth. It's the kind of game that reminds me of what a *good* action rpg is supposed to be like. The two games it seems to be compared to are Zelda for the SNES and Landstalker. Having seen the former, I admit that the gameplay does have it's similarities. One thing that sets Alundra and Zelda apart, though, is the depth of Alundra's storyline. The story really did have me spellbound. Not so much the basic summary- evil demon wants to corrupt people through dreams, dream-traveling hero must defeat him, yadda yadda yadda- but rather, the way the events in the game played out. Learning about the idol in the church, seeing Sybill's visions, watching characters in the town get murdered- it all added up to a complex and intriguing theme. The story of Alundra is a bit dark, as more than a few major townsfolk die, but it's still enjoyable, if not even more so because of this. I became attatched to some of the characters you met as the game progressed. Because I enjoyed talking to the characters, though, I was rather annoyed that you couldn't talk to them *at all* during the final dungeon part because they were praying for you in the stupid boarded-up church.
