Summary:
I also agree with the majority that a) the cord is too short, and b) the fact that this isn't included in the PS2 out of the box is pretty lame.

My one other complaint is that if I plug in the multitap to play a game with mutliplayer options, then switch to a game that does not, I have to unplug the multitap and plug just the controller back into the PS2 in order for that second game to recognize the controller.

I know I'm a big whiny, lazy girl, but if I've parked my butt on the couch to play some video games, I'd like to stay there! I would prefer it if I could just leave the multitap in all the time and not worry about have to plug and unplug all different manner of gizmos and gadgets.

I got the mutlitap for christmas and spent the next week or two blowing away, and being blown away by, my siblings (there are five of us). All of this wouldn't be possible without the multitap - nothing like a little carnage to bring a family together for the holidays!

Summary:
The PS2 multitap is the only way you can play with more than 2 players on the PS2. For ease of use alone I would give it a 5. But i give it a 4 for reasons you will soon find out.
First i think sony is just out there to make a little more money by forcing you to pay more to play with 4 people. The XBox and GameCube come with 4 ports out of the box.
I cannot confirm this, but i heard that if you want to play any multiplayer PS1 games on your PS2 you need a PS1 multitap, another ripoff.
The cord that connects the multitap to the PS2 is very short, not even a foot long, so if your PS2 is on some table and you dont have space to place your multitap then you might have a problem.

Summary:
I think the multi tap is a good idea for sony to make but what i want to know is why they made it in the first place? why not just have 4 controller ports like N64, gamecube, and Xbox? i think its a cheap way to make money... i also dont like how PSX dualshock controllers do work on ps2 but the psx multiport does not work on ps2 so you have to spend another 35 dollars on the multitap. I think it looks neat how it matches the ps2 and all but it needs a longer cord.. unlike the PSX multiport it cant reach the floor from a table or tv stand... so it hangs and pulls on the ps2... not the best design..... but all in all its a good device... gets the job done....

Price Paid:  $45.00 from www.videogamedepot.com

Summary:
It's a nice feature to be able to add more players, especially for a tag team fighting game like Dead or Alive 2.

It would have been nicer if 4 ports were built into the PS2 like there are 4 ports on my Dreamcast. It would also have been nice if my old multitap for my original Playstation worked in my PS2 so I wouldn't have to by this new one.

The items above are the first things that made me view it unfavorably. But then once I started using it, I viewed it even more unfavorably. The cable that connects the multitap into the PS2 is way too short. If it were a little longer, I could place the multitap neatly on top of my PS2 or neatly on the side of it, etc. but it's so short, it has to just dangle there. Very ugly.
