Summary:
WoW. I remember when capcom was making allit's hype about how they would be making a Breath Of Fire game like we have never seen before. Well they were saying the truth, you really have never seen a breath of fire game like this before. First off, ways that it's still the same:Chacters: Yes there are still your two Token Ryu and Nina characters, In this game Ryu works for a mercenary group (can't exactly remember so if I'm please be kind) and Nina is some sort of secret government creation that was made to purify the toxic air. That's all that I can think that is really the same thought.....
Now for what's different about it.
Gameplay: Instead of your normal turn based stay on your side of the feild and attack battleplay, now it is still turn based but you can move inside this 3d enviroment, andit adds depth to the stratagy because they give you your points (can't remember exactly what they are called but you need them to do things like move and sttack and so on) for the round and you decide how many of them you want to use to move and attack. Second of all because this is a 3d enviroment most of your attacks are based on sort of 3d dome or line so that adds more depth to how you attack. and once more it becomes even more in depth because now you can combo together your weaker and stronger moves to create a combo which makes your attacks stronger for example. I start off by doing a simple slash attack, if I then do a more powerfull Ogre slash move the ogre slash gets a 10% bonus to it's attack, if I was to then go back and do another Slash attack, the slash attack would get a 20% attack bonus and so on. that's all I can think of for the battles. As for your normal gameplay in this game you now have the ability to start your game over from the start when ever you feel like it in fact your gonna have to do this at least once to fully play the game. When you do this you keep all the skills and equiped items you have but you start at the begining of the game. When this happens you reveal new parts of the story line calles Story Over Lap. Which basicly lets you see the story usualy from a different point of veiw or lets you see what other people are saying. also capcom has added their best new feature to this game and it's called Temp save. What this does is let you save the game at any time you want (outside of a battle) yes you get to save a game but the catch is that next time you load the temp save it is deleted and left blank again. I find this really usefull for situations like : youre mom is screaming at you cause it's 2:30 in the morning and it's a school night so you need to quickly save before she comes up and you can do this without having to back track and find a save point. And now you get CELL ANIMATION!!!

Summary:
To start off, Dragon Quarter is unlike any of the other Breath of Fire games in the series. So, if you're looking to buy it just to make your set "complete", don't.

That said, some of the standard BoF items are still present. The main character is still Ryu, and one of the first characters added to your team is Nina, who has wings, and Ryu can transform into a dragon (well, a dragon-human hybrid).

However, that is where the similarities end. Transforming into a dragon is highly discouraged (literally, if you transform too many times, it's game over). Exploring is even discouraged, as too many steps in the game, and you die.

The replay value of Dragon Quarter is what makes the game seriously worth playing. No, it isn't an easy game that you can fly through in the first try. Even the best gamers will, most likely, take at least three complete play throughs to raise your D-Ratio all the way to Dragon Quarter (1/4). This is where the Scenario Overlay System (SOL) comes into effect. Capcom has outdone themselves with this unique twist; each time you play through a scene, you may unlock new FMVs, new passages, and new secrets simply by playing it a second time. If your D-Ratio is high enough, the entire storyline changes, in fact.

The only reason I gave this game a 4 overall is because it isn't for everybody. Yes, it is an amazing game. But, don't go buy it to get into RPGs, or to compliment your collection! This game takes some serious dedication, but for those who take the time to get used to it fall for the game as quickly as Ryu decides he wants to help Nina (by far the coolest cinematic EVER!).

Summary:
A big surprise. I wasn't sure what to expect really, and the battle system threw me for a bit until I got used to it. Overall now I can say though I really love it. I just hope the story remains steady and strong like it has been so far. I can't believe though that this game never recieved more of a push than it did. Sure it can be hard at times, but what was the last time any of us had a challenge playing an rpg? A long time for me. My biggest negative though would be the save system where to pay to save, but your also allowed a quicksave. This is definitely better than a old game some might remember Azure Dream for PS1 which I really liked, but was brutal with the save system. Still that can't kill this titles fun for me. I'm trying to look at it more as a personal challenge than anything else LOL.

Summary:
Firstly, any conceivable notion you have of previous Breath of Fire series, throw it out the window, because what you want in your typical BoF RPG isn't going to be in this game. Other than the characters Ryu and Nina returning, the ability to turn into a dragon (however it has a risk in doing so), and the minigame of raising the ant farm, BoF:Dragon's Quarter is a completely different game than that of previous series. This game is dark, gritty, strategic, hard, and ulitmately different than anything you've ever played before. Like a refreshing breath of clean air, BoF:Dragon's Quarter breaks away from the typical RPG mold of being a "time filler until the next big RPG comes out", to a stong enough title that other RPG's should take notice and learn a thing or two from.

Summary:
Altogether, this game isn't so great. They don't encourage you to turn into a dragon, which is basically what the BoF series is based upon, Nina is like a machine, i mean come on! Anyway, this game has it's high points and low points. It is one of the worst parts of the series, though.
