Summary: One word "Suck"
Why do these games need to be both undocumented and difficult? Nobody wants to pick up a manuel unless they can't figure out a game, so Why can't the manuel have at least the basics? Like the effect of eating different fish or how to start the vitality skill? or to get a map?
So I have vitality level one and all the rest say I haven't mastered vitality yet and I can't pick them up. I can't even win the first race because the other dolphins can swim way faster. This is a ridiculously frustrating game. Why not have a free swim mode where my daughter can just swim around and look at the underwater beauty? A pox on the designers.. There needs to be some fun and gratification not just endless frustration.
Summary: Warning: Remember Ecco the Dolphin for Sega Genesis, because this is a sequel to that game, and is very similar to the first.
I ask anyone reading this to remember, simply because, Ecco the Dolphin may be remembered fondly by a horde of nostalgic gamers... and I think everyone may forget how annoying the original game actually was, and how few people finished the entire thing. So, again, those who truly loved the original will love this game, while those that played a few levels until they were bored, and now remember the game with a fondness, will most likely do the same with this game.
It is a beautiful game, with a dolphin main-character, which hasn't been seen since... well, the last Ecco game. At first it may appear to be the best game you have ever played, but slowly the realization will hit you that it becomes extremely repetitive and is saved only by great control, graphics, and sound.
Summary: Originally, my favorite game was Gran Turismo 3. I loved it, and thought that no game could beat it... that was, until i bought this one. Ecco the Dolphin is the best PS2 game out. Unfortunately, no one cares, or has heard about the game. Once you start playing, your eyes will be glued to the screen for hours. The gorgeous graphics will stun your vision, and Ecco himself looks incredible. You won't be dissapointed, because not only are the graphics revolutionary, but the gameplay is also awesome. By the way, this is no kiddie game, because it is REALLY challenging. GO Buy IT!!!!!
Summary: Do you like eating fish? Can you hold your breath for longer than a minute? If so then ecco the dolphin is the game for you. The game starts with some silly aliens attacking earth and destroying an odd shard thing. It is now your job to swim around the ocean eating fish and killing bad dudes. But it has been done oh so well. The game is third person and you are free to swim around the place upside down and so on. You can also jump out of the water to get some air and also perform a few tricks. And so the game progresses through various bosses and highly detailed levels.

Summary: Odd...I could only find this game at EB. Did they lock up the PS2 version or are stores just not carrying it? Anyway, the GF loves this game, and it seems decent enough to me. Getting stuck in rocks while swimming is one bug that should've been worked out, but other than that there is no gameplay gripe. The music though...wow, talk about repetitive 8-bit garbage. We had to turn it down as far as it would go and just listen to the sound effects. This game is really geared for the younger or female gamer. They can play and have a really great time, while an experienced gamer may balk at the simplistic gameplay and basic seek-and-ye-shall-be-rewarded quest.
