Agetec Disaster Report Adventure Review

Agetec Disaster Report

Description
Disaster Report places you in the role of a newspaper reporter stuck on an island that is continuously hit with severe aftershocks from a major earthquake. The objective is to escape-but to do so with as much of the story behind the destruction of Capital City as possible. Considering the Government would like to keep the truth to itself, you'll soon find out that the wrath of nature may be less dangerous than upsetting the status quo of the Government.

Summary:
Disaster Report is possibly the most under rated game of the year so far. It's the best game nobody is playing, minus me and Frank below. =P

If you're a fan of disaster movies like Airport, Earthquake, Volcano, Twister, etc., this game is for you! It delivers chills and thrills a minute!
From the opening to the end, it's a true cult gaming classic. There are some issues with the game however, that I'll discuss below, but nothing that detracts from the gameplay too greatly. I'm afraid the game's main fault is it's so different. Basically it's survival horror against nature, and the development team must've watched a ga-zillion hours of disaster movies because they hit the nail on the head.

You are Keith Helm on your first day of work as a reporter in Stiver City, an entirely man-made island. You awake in your train car on a really long bridge to the island, after a massive earthquake hits and you are knocked unconscious. You were out most of an entire day, so most of the people have evacuated already. From there your adventure begins. Light on story in the typical sense, Disaster Report still weaves a pretty good tale with interesting characters and a nice mystery.

Summary:
Disaster Report is a good game overall if you're looking for an adventure, exploration game. You venture throughout a large city that breaks apart almost every step you take. The game is very linear, so be sure to save your progress with the different save files available, otherwise, the replay value diminishes; unless you like starting over a lot. I wish you could travel anywhere you wanted at anytime, but this is not the case. Most of the time, if you make it through a section, there's no turning back. GTA fans may be disappointed by this lack of freedom.

There are some great moments: The huge Tsunami Wave that you need to escape, the Amusement Park, the Giant, closed Mall you need to escape from, the Forest Park, and some of the excellent horizons of scenery to view.

If you like games like Robot Alchemic Drive, you may like this, but GTA 3/VC fans may find the lack of total freedom a problem. There's freedom to explore, but no freedom to backtrack, unless you've been saving the levels seperately.

Overall, it was a good experience. The story is decent and there are some cool moments.

Replay Value: 7
Fun Level: 7
Control: 7
Visuals: 8
Sound: 6
Voice Acting: 9
Music: 7
Gameplay Variety: 8
Story: 7
Overall: 7.5 or so. Not as much freedom as GTA 3/VC, Robot Alchemic Drive or Cabela's Big Game Hunter. Even the Getaway has more freedom. But not all games have to be the same. It's still a creative, enjoyable game unlike most others.
