from Electronics Boutique Summary: Most under-rated and under-appreciated PS2 game of 2002! DRAKAN: THE ANCIENTS' GATES is a better game than Tomb Raider and (gasp! Dare I be honest?) much more enjoyable than the highly over-rated MGS2! I am a big fan of Metal Gear games, too. But Drakan shocked me with its amazing amount of fun and colorful visuals. It plays a little like Tomb Raider, only Rynn (the leading character) is more fun to play with and just as sexy/cool as Lara Croft. The reviews on this site (Videogamereview.com) led me to purchase this game, and I thank you all for the "heads up". I had played a demo of it in early 2002, and the demo sucked, to be frank. It turned me off from investigating the actual product when it hit the stores last spring. Pity, but thaks to the positive reviews I read here, I managed to pick this game up for under $20 at Christmas time. I have been enjoying it ever since! What fun, riding a dragon (Arokh), learning and casting numerous spells, and buying a wide variety of colorful and interesting weapons! I liken this game to Baldurs Gate, only it is less sharp graphically, but far more complete as far as scope, storyline and sheer difficulty. This game presents a good challenge and is never really boring because it is so tough. I happen to like the graphics a lot, mainly because they are colorful and expansive landscapes. If you also passed this great game over last year, I heartily recommend you do yourself a favor and pick it up. The cost will be reasonable (buy it used) but you will get much more than your money's worth out of it!! Anyone who liked Baldur's Gate or Tomb Raider will probably love this game. I, for one, am hoping they make a sequel. Report this review >>
