Summary:
I've been reading these reviews, and I think it's time I gave my own. First of all, I want a vote. How many of you are tweaking out because you were able to beat the final boss at level 30? Come on, raise your hand high. Now look at yourself? Don't you feel stupid? Not only do you have your hand waving in the sky, you also obviously forgot that this is the first in a four part series. The first game is supposed to end at a low level. Think about it, 4 games at 30 levels per game? That means you'll have to be at level 120 to beat the final boss of the series(I doubt it, but you get the idea). The game premise starts off slowly enough, but with near unlimited dungeons to play and the ability to level up even after you beat the final boss (plus a secret dungeon) adds greatly to the replay value. The Books of 1000 give collect-o-maniacs something to strive for, and hack-n-slashers will salivate at the amount of enemies. The game designers were obviously keeping in mind that this would be a four part epic, so they didn't include too much in the first game, but just enough to get people WHO ARE WILLING TO GIVE IT TIME hooked.

Price Paid:  $25.00 from EB

Summary:
This is a okay game. I enjoyed it for the most part. It is quite intriguing and original. At a time when RPG has become some sort of rountine boring stuff, this game offered something new. And by that I mean the story and idea is new. I think that is largely benefited from the director of .hack project. The three reknowed anime artists. who had this idea and write the story, designed character. However, as for the game itself there are rooms for improvement. The gameplay is pretty repetitive. You visit town, buy equipment and items, then go to dugeon, clear it then come back. and repeat this over and over for 20 hours. sounds pretty boring, huh? It is broing actually, although you do make some friends and have a few side quests, but for a game that is suppose to be a simulation of an online game, the gameplay is surprisingly linear and repetitive. In the whole game you only get two towns to visit, and the story does not get much development at all even after you go through the whole game, you still don't know what the hell has happend. Apparently, the develper is reserve a lot of things for other parts of .hack
I'm really angry at Bandai because the only reason they made this a four part game is to make money. That really piss me off, since they are using the same engine and stuff so essentially they are making four times of money just for one game! I personally do think it will be a better game if they had make it a single volume and offer the player more substances that way.
But don't get me wrong, this is still a game worth playing it is so much better than some other RPG which does not want jump out of the cliche style at all.

Summary:
I thought Final Fantasy was bad but this game just sucked(just kidding). This game seemed boring at first because I didn't know what was going on.But after playing for a few hours I was totally hooked on this game. It's basically all you could want in an RPG game (ok so maybe not EVERYTHING you could want but you get the idea). The one thing that could be better is if you were able to send mail to others(not just reply to mail sent to you where you only have 2 message choices). You should be able to send mail to others and put exactly what you want to say.And if you could post on the board.Overall,it's an excellent game.
