from Electronics Boutique Summary: Shellshock 67 is a game that has orginality but lacks gameplay. Set in Ban Chere valley in they year 1967, shellshock is one of the first vietnam games to appear on the ps2. This alone entitles attention to it, since the concept itself is new to ps2 gamers. But, the hype surrounding this game was a little more tan it was able to live up two. Instead of the realisim promised, Shellshock delivers a watered down version of the war. For example, the in game interaction is limited, as the levels are almost tubular and lack any kind of character freedom. Also the AI is lackluster. The Vietcong are way too dumb, second only to your teammates in the game.
However, Shellshock does hit the bullseye in some areas. The sound effects and music are very good and are perhaps the games greatest feature. Further, the controls are simple and respond properly (unlike so many war games.
All in all, Shellshock is an average to decent game. The real problems arise in the replay value, once you are done, there really is not much else to do. For those intrested in war games, Call of Duty or Medal of Honor series might be the better choice. Shellshock was a great idea, but wasnt developed properly. Report this review >>
