Price Paid:  $30.00 from GameStop

Summary:
I admit that I bought the wrong game here. I thought I was getting the old 80's arcade game called Afterburner. Obviously I crossed some mental wires somewhere. Even so, it didn't seem much like the movie it was supposed to be based on. In any case, I didn't think it was very fun and I really can't recommend it to anyone.

Price Paid:  $26.00 from Kay-Bee

Summary:
If you are a flight simulator jockey, and you like the fast realistic look, this game is okay. If you pick the cockpit view on all of the missions, there is realism (w/o the G's) that is fabulous. The look and feel was good on the PS2 version, but the Gamecube looks better.

Summary:
This is supposed to have some kind of tie-in with the movie like the box says, but it doesn't. This doesn't ruin the game though. The point of the game is there are just some "bad guys" who have been trying to start wars and crap and it's your job to go blow them up and violently kill them all and watch them burn and scream in pain he he he. Anyways, the game is pretty fun but what really got to me was they said the missions are in the "desert" or just "South East Asia" or some stupid crap like that. Being a military buff, I instantly recognized the first mission as Vietnam. The bad guys are flying MiG-17's and MiG-21's. As if that doesn't give it away. And the "desert" mission was kinda based off of Desert Storm. Oh well, it's just a game. But still. I was amazed at how accurate the guns on the tank were. I didn't know they could shoot down a fighter jet four miles high! The game was also too easy until you got to the last mission or so. I wish you could take off and land before and after missions too. Even top gun for NES made you land after missions. I think another thing that would've made the game cool was if there was another view that put you inside the cockpit of the plane. Like a flight simulator. Can't expect the game designers to do that to make the game better though.
