Price Paid:  $50.00 from pcworld

Summary:
Xbox live is primarily what the xbox was designed for and it has not failed to deliver. The games arnt laggy and the voice chat is brilliant! Honestly you'l wander how you ever played online without it! Words cannot describe the joy of fragging somone who has just been taunting you through the headset. JUST BUY IT. 40 pounds a year is nothing for the best thing since video games began.
The things ive heard on ghost recon... "ohhhhh no, no ,noooo!!" followed by a loud bang and a bloody body slumping towards the floor, I cracked up whilst lying in a bush before being shot myself by the sniper! Ghost recon can be a bit laggy with over 8 players though.

Price Paid:  $50.00 from Game Spot

Summary:
Having heard all the hype about the wonders of xbox live I am very disappointed now that I have shelled out the $$$$ for one myself. The lag and the drops on Ghost Reacon were most annoying. The Sound in the HeadPhone was ok but was a little spotty at times. In Fact, the best thing about xbox live is the headset, other than that it seems to be a waste of good money. Stick with 56k or a good broadband connection and you will be much happier.Xbox is great. Xbox live sux.

Review NaN of 9

Price Paid:  $50.00 from Target

Summary:
Xbox Live is one of the best things for Xbox, if you have a broadband connection. Dial up users, sorry, no deal for you. Microsoft wanted minimal lag, so you'd better upgrade. And even though there is some lag, it is few and far between. Go get this, now. Stop reading. You also need a credit card. It is really easy to get started. All you have to do is pop in the starter kit disc, plug in a USB network cable (sold seperatly, its one of those white cables you plug into your computer to hook it up onto the Internet) and follow the instructions. There are some routers that need workarounds, and you will find a list of those routers on www.xbox.com/live. Once you sign up, you are good to go! There is an annual fee of 50 bucks in the US, and 90 bucks in Canada. One of the best features is a headset, which you can use to talk to other players online. There is a volume control, and if you don't feel comfortable using your real voice, you can always mask it. Overall, its a good service with some lag.

Price Paid:  $50.00 from ebx

Summary:
xbox live is the best thing to happen to the xbox since halo, and god only know`s how many gamers have enjoyed that one. with an easy to set up starter disc, hands-free communication(except for ghost recon) and a well designed/quality head set this is really a no-brainer if you have broadband in your home. having the capabilities to play a game 24/7 and always find other willing gamers is like being able to push a button and go straight to a party that never ends.
