Description Reprise the role of John Mullins: patriot, weapons specialist, anti-terrorist mercenary and Military Consultant. Trust no one only your ability to take out operatives with your brains, brawn and firepower. Failure is not an option.
Summary: I wasn't expecting much from this game. I actually went to target to get Medal of honour: Frontline, but they were out. I looked at the shelf, and there was SOF2. I thought "yeah, that'll do for now", as all I was after was a solid FPS to keep me going for a bit. Like I said, my expectations were somewhat low, and because of that I enjoyed this game. Go into this game expecting a revolutionary experience and you will be dissapointed. This game is about as average as shooters come.

The good Outdoor forsted areas look great Vast online capabilites and game modes Random mission generator will keeep you playing
The bad Seems like a port from the pc version Some co-op play would have been nice
Game Overview First of it's kind in online arena warfare Realistic player actions Practically a direct port of the PC version Beautiful out graphic environments some of the best Random Mission generator to keep you playing months to come Lengthy single player mode, with tons of extras! Excellent Gameplay forest scenes reminds me of Ghost Recon
Single Player "Soldier of Fortune's hook was the ability to do exceptionally gruesome things to the human body using a variety of modern instruments of death. This features an unprecedented level of brutally graphic violence as well as improvements in areas found lacking in the first game. Unfortunately, several of these improvements don't go far enough. As a result of this and other issues, Soldier of Fortune II" ends up being decidedly underwhelming". As military "consultant" John Mullins, you're engaged in a secret war against bio terrorism on behalf of the mysterious Shop. The conflict will take you from Prague to Kamchatka, packing realistic weapons and matching bloodshed at every global hotspot. Ocassionaly you'll make a call for some Marine backup witch comes in handy through the game. Single player camping never gets boring for is pack a nice random mission generator which will never let you down. Weapon balance is much better than before. Shotguns are only effective at close range, and the weapons you choose at the beginning of a mission are pretty much what you'll be stuck with for the duration. No longer will you find yourself carrying an arsenal fit for a full platoon by the midpoint of a mission. There are fairly realistic limitations to the number of guns and the amount of ammo Mullins can carry. Weapons are also effective in certain situations and a liability in others, so some strategy is required when choosing your method of offense. The level design can be a bit difficult at times, as this game requires you to think hard, use your stealth skills, and get those head shots with a new generation sniper rifle from miles away. The computer AI has been getting mixed reviews from out staff and other players, they have enough brains to duck behind objects, reload at times, know when to throw grenades, and even pick up other guns.
Online Play Solider of fortune is one of the first games to hit the online market which specializes in realistic multi player warfare. (Not like unreal championship) with multiple game modes to choose from, you'll probably go to the multi player game mode before you even try single player. Game modes include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag, over delivering some great thrills for hours on end. This is by far one of the best online experiences so far in the Xbox Live era.
Sound The sound area is never paid very much attention to by many game studios. SOF2 is no exception, the variety is there and does get you into the game nicely but is nothing exceptional. The sound effects are there and they set the mood nicely which is all that really counts.
Graphics The sharp but dark graphics reflect the shadowy environments that often go hand-in-hand with secret missions. Enemy deaths are ridiculously overwrought with lots of melodramatic falls followed by twitching, probably one of the goryest games so far (you can even blow body parts of with shotguns.) The interaction is definitely here on the xbox version of sof2. Then again the game's incredibly accurate per-pixel hit detection-meaning you can target a leg, head, or even weapon for specific reactions and strategic effects. The dense underbrush of the jungle stages is at least as impressive as the anatomical damage by a close-range shotgun blast; Environment graphics utilize of all xboxs power and push it to the max to dish out some of the best game play so far in a fps. Forest scenes look perfect, just like ghost recon.
Summary: I first rented this game at Blockbuster and fell in love... This is one of the best games out for XBox Live right now, i only played it on single player for about 10 mins. and got really bored...only buy...no only RENT this game if you have Xbox Live!, it's not even worth renting for single player
The rest of my ratings are based on online only...
Summary: What can really be said about SoF2 that hasn't already been said? This is a very mediocre experience on the Xbox. It's a solid, but unspectacular FPS on a console with a lot of FPS and even more on the way. In the end, it's something that will receive it's 15 minutes of fame and then be cast aside for something more satisfying. As a game, it's sole gimmick and the only thing that separates it from all the other FPS out there, is the Ghoul System where damage is "realistically" applied to something like 52 different body parts on your enemies. If you shoot them in the leg, they limp; if you shoot them in the head, you might take their head off; if you shoot them in the arm, it might blow their arm off; and so on and on. It's a nice, if gratuitous, innovation that will likely be incorporated into all shooter-type games as technology evolves, along with destructible environments a la Red Faction. Overall, it's not nearly enough to salvage a mediocre gaming experience.
