Summary:
I had as much fun playing Invisible War as I did playing the original Deus Ex back in the Summer of '00. It's true that some of the more in-depth aspects of the first game are missing in this sequel, and this may dishearten die-hard DE fans. But I think that if you approach the game with an open mind it may actually turn out better than you expect. Let's face it, publisher Eidos made it clear to Ion Storm Austin that garnering substantial console sales was their overriding concern, and the dev team had to make the game accessible to that audience. Maybe if it was a PC-only title, the game would've lived up to the very high expectations the gaming community had for a DE sequel, but these days few companies have the luxury of dictating to their publisher what their platform of choice is (Valve and Id are the only ones I can think of ?). The bottom line is, if you have an XBox and you enjoy playing more cerebral and plot-heavy shooters, this title is for you.

Price Paid:  $7.00 from (rented at) Blockbus

Summary:
This is a great game from the start to just before the finish. All of the levels in the game are amazingly designed, have excellent graphics, and involve deep RPG elements, all except for the last level. The last level is bland, has little RPG elements, and leaves everyone wishing for much more. It's actually sad going through such a deep game only to meet with a rushed ending. The main story was never really that great, it was all of the sub-stories that keep me interested. But in the end, there are 3 possible endings.
It doesn't matter how you played the game up until the end, because in the end the 3 endings are pretty much laid out for you. So you could save it just before completion and experience every ending in five minutes. I thought that was kind of shallow and really helped the game fall apart in the end. Well anyway, aside from the last level, this is a truly amazing game to behold with excellent graphics, deep, varied gameplay, and a deep, dark atmosphere.

Summary:
Don't waste your money! This sequel is frustrating and disappointing. Just when you get into the game, you find yourself facing an enemy that you have no way of fighting, because you haven't picked up the magic item that would be just the ticket. Some enemies are flat out impossible by the time you get to them.

Summary:
DE:IW is an entertaining game, but comes up short in most areas. This is one that's worth waiting until it drops in price, or goes Platinum ($19.99).
