Summary:
Gladius is a turn based tactical combat game with some strong RPG and strategic elements. The action takes place in an unusual and frankly very appealing iron-age fantasy world of romanesque empires and fierce barbarians.

Coming from Lucasarts, you'd expect this product to be athmospheric and pleasent to play, which I'm happy to report seems to be the case. Unlike many lucasarts products, Gladius also offers some great long-term gameplay and plenty of depth too. Its surprisingly compelling for a turn based game, especially considering the deceptive simplicity of the combat.

Like most multi-platform releases, the X-box version suffers a little in the graphics department, but gamers who get used to the PS2-ish appearence will find a lot to like here. A great multiplayer mode is offered, and two campaigns are available offering quite different experiences: one seems to be geared towards casual gamers, the other for the hard-core who need more of a challenge.

Summary:
Awesome! Best game of it's kind since Final Fantasy tactics. You get to travel the land and recruit all sorts of gladiators to compete in all sorts of different kinds of battles throghout the land. Each character has tons of skills to learn; combos, affinity (elemental) attacks, and various other kinds of useful skills. There is very little talking or wandering around, just battles on top of battles. Once you start to play, it's almost impossible to tear yourself away as you strive to reach the top of your division and level up your warriors. There are so many different classes, you can't employ them all and so many different skills you can't learn them all. If you love RPG's this game is an absolute no-brainer.
