Description Standing 30 feet tall and equipped with an arsenal of weaponry, Gun Metal fights hordes of enemies in this mission-based shooter exclusive to the Xbox. At the touch of a button, transform from robot to jet fighter and take the fight to the skies. Destroy and make use of everything--crush rocks, fell trees, and tear chunks from buildings--on your quest to liberate your people. Gun Metal offers a devastating mix of action and strategy gameplay!
Summary: Gun Metal would kick your Mech Assault Butts. There is just so much more versatility with the mech to jet mode and the firepower and devistation dished out with GM. it is awesome. Imagine Battle Engine: Aquilla in 3RD person perspective but a quicker and more deadly mech. The game is one of Xboxs best. Could have been a little longer but you can go back with your upgrades and replay the levels. Tridents Locked and Loaded....heheh
Summary: This is a very simple game. Fly around, blow up stuff, walk around, shoot stuff. the really cool feature is that you get to turn from a gundam like robot, to a jet fighter. The games learning curve is very easy, it took me about 5 minutes to figure out all the controls, and I mastered them in twenty. If your looking for a game that you can use and you dont have to be worried abut big save files or deadly repercussions if you dont save, and have a short blast of fun, then this game is for you, but I dont recommend you pay more than 30 bucks for this game, because its not THAT good, if you unsure, always rent a game before you buy it. ALWAYS!!
Summary: I`ll keep my review short, since the previous "review of the day" sums up my opinion pretty well. Basically, GunMetal feels like a mindless shooter. No real feeling of driving a huge walking hunk of metal. Every mission feels like you're running from one place to the other in jet form, throw a couple missiles, transform in robot mode, spend every weapon on your ennemy, find a base, reload, repeat. I love "giant robot" games, but I must admit this one is a big let down. I see that other people quite enjoyed it and good for them, but be warned that not everyone will enjoy it as much. I guess I will have to wait for Mech Assault, Phantom Crash and Steel Batallion...
Summary: Gunmetal is a fast-paced action oriented transformer mech game. The plot involves a future time period in which one human faction has escaped to a war torn earth and their opposing human faction, via a worm-hole in space. Thinking a portal through the worm-hole to their current planet was destroyed, the good guys thought they were safe. Wrong, one last portal jump was made by the enemy, and their strength was overwhelming. On the verge of defeat, the good guys create a 30foot robot mech, that can transform into a jet, Gunmetal. The story and plot is very simple and not very involved in terms of gameplay. What else is new. The story is just there to give you an excuse to use the Gunmetal robot. Unfortunately, using the Gunmetal mech is not very fun, distinctive, or unique. This leads to an overall negative gaming experience for those looking for something more simulation than arcade, like myself. If your looking for a fast-paced thrill ride, not heavy on play mechanics, chances are you will love Gunmetal. The production quality is average throughout. The interface menus are standard, nothing too flashy, but all the bases are covered. The games graphics are average for the XBOX. The framerate is pretty smooth for the majority of the game, even when an enourmous number of forces, and huge motherships are on screen all moving and shooting simultaneously. Sound is below average for the XBOX. The music fits well, and is hardly noticeable. Which means it's not great, but it's not annoying enough for it to be a problem. A real problem from an audio perspective is your commander, who constantly pesters you with directives during the mission. This wouldn't be so bad, except its not only mission critical advice, but also pilot advice, such as, "do a barrel role to break missile lock." Thanks for the advice Maverick! Let's just say your commander takes micro-managing to a new level. Controls in GM are very simple and easy. For those who do not like the complex nature of many XBOX games, control wise, you will love Gunmetal, because it really can't get much simpler. I think this is a bad thing, more articulative control would have made the game more challenging and rewarding. Steel Battalion this game is not. Gunmetal is a single player game, I think a multiplayer or at least two player addition would have been a wise move, because all the missions are scripted, so there is very little replay value. And some of the missions are extremely short, such as 3-5 minutes to complete. Overall, Gunmetal is just an average game. Really a disappointment for those such as myself, expecting something new to be added the Genre. I'd give this game a 65/100 and recommend skipping it. I finished about 12 of the 25 or so missions and lost interest, even though I had a few more days on the rental.
Summary: This game is really fun doing the missions and even after you finish them its still fun to go back and play again. THe weapons are really cool and you always get to unlock more. I really enjoy bombing places and seeing the explosions.
